1974 BMW R90/6 with Dneper sidecar - Recently tuned and replaced alternator rotor and battery. Customer is getting on in years and just doesn't ride enough to keep it. This is a very nice older rig we built about 10 years ago. The odometer doesn't work, but we have kept track of the mileage. It is approximately 54,000. Oil has been changed regularly and tune ups about every 1 1/2 years. The triple trees have been upgraded to Perry's sidecar triple tree. It has a steering dampner from bike to sidecar. This rig is ready to go just about anywhere. If you are local, or you want to fly in from out of State and have not driven a sidecar rig before, we will give you sidecar lessons. 1973 BMW R75/5 SWB Cafe Scrambler. Number Match. Thoroughly Revivified. Fast. (1973)
BACKSTORY I have here one R75/5 SWB classic with matching engine, frame, and badge numbers; it has a model year of 1973 and a build date of 1/1972, so the wiring is fuseless and most of the parts are stamped 1971. I got it as a basket case in the Spring and spent an unreasonable amount of time this Summer reviving and refinishing various components and making a few reversible (non-destructive) modifications. PO replaced the head & base gaskets, pushrod tube seals, etc., got it fired up then lost interest. REVIVAL (I would not call it a "restoration") I stripped & painted the frame and swingarm (spray lacquer; 3 coats black, 3 coats clear) and polished most of the engine casings. All the knurled BMW casing bolts looked great, but much of the other original hardware (hardened nuts & bolts, bushings, motor mounts, brake linkage, seat latch, steering damper, etc.) had a "lovely patina" (ahem), so I de-plated and re-plated all (zinc; 2 to 4 strikes).2013-10-14 00:06:52Norwich, Vermont, US32,2032,950.00 -

1976 R90/6 R90 1045cc big bore from San Jose BMW Toaster Cafe builder I ship! (1976)
I am really in love with BMW airheads right now and have a couple projects going. The plan was to make this into a cafe or use the engine for another project and part out the rest. The previous owner put on a big bore kit that really gives this bike some grunt! The Mikunis could use some top end tuning but are much simpler to work over the Bings I'm used to. The body has been rattle canned and looks ok from a distance but very obvious when you get closer. For me, I'd respray if I was to keep it. There are a couple issues that are noteworthy. The bike does drip a bit of oil after being ridden. I don't know exactly where from but plan on some new gaskets if you want to fix this. The previous owner rode it like this and wasn't concerned, just kept her topped off. I'm very picky and would re seal if it was me. also, the bolt that attaches the valve cover in the center is loose. It's not needed to hold the valve cover on, but should be taken care of. Again, previous owner didn't mind, I'd prefer to fix it. I do have the speedo/tach combo if you would like to have it with the bike. The wiring is all there, just not on the bike currently. It shows 18.5K miles. The head and tail lights along with signals are working although no front signals installed. I've priced it based on the current condition and well under parts value. I'm sure the smartest thing I could do is part out the bike but It's too nice to do that. I love this style of bike, tank and especially the peanut style heads. Cleaning out the garage - I'm downsizing to a condominium and the bikes have to go. I am the 2nd owner of this bike which I bought in 2004 from a private party with 4K miles on it. I added the BMW right & left system cases and wider & taller windscreen from Wunderlich. It has normal wear & tear but no damage (never been down) and everything works as it should. Speedometer was rebuilt by Palo Alto and set at 21133 miles it now has 25751 miles.Transition was rebuilt by Engle Motors.carburetors are the new style Bings.The engine was disassembled and inspected,I replaced the rings,valves and valve springsI replaced the wheel bearings steering head bearings and swingarm bearings . New wiring harnessAll rubber was replaced.The exhaust is reproductionPowder coated frame and swingarms.The bike was lightly crashed and has damage the valve covers,mufflers ,finder and shock tower.Tank has scratches from a magnetic tank bag.The back finder has scratches and dents from a seat. FIM Eases WSBK Homologation Requirements
Sat, 22 Feb 2014With the 2014 World Superbike Championship now under way, the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) announced a change in the homologation procedure for new motorcycles entering the series. The new regulations requires a minimum of 125 units produced in order to begin the homologation process. By the end of the first year of participation, manufacturers must have produced 250 units.

Michael Dunlop to Race for BMW at 2014 Isle of Man TT
Wed, 12 Feb 2014BMW Motorrad UK has signed seven-time winner Michael Dunlop to race in the 2014 Isle of Man TT and other international road races. Dunlop will be the first factory-backed BMW rider in 50 years, and will try to be the first rider to win a TT race on a BMW since Georg Meier won in 1939 on a RS 255 Kompressor. Dunlop, nephew of the great Joey Dunlop, was the star of the 2013 Isle of Man TT, winning four races and finishing second in the Senior TT on Honda machines.

2013 US Motorcycle Sales Data
Tue, 04 Feb 2014The Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) reported a modest 1.4% growth in U.S. motorcycle and scooter sales in 2013, with consumers purchasing 465,783 vehicles. The sales data represents numbers from the MIC’s member brands which include BMW, Can-Am, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, the Piaggio Group (which includes Aprilia, Moto Guzzi and Vespa), Victory, Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha.
2014 WSBK Provisional Entry List – 27 Riders and 9 Manufacturers

The provisional list includes 27 riders riding motorcycles from nine different manufacturers. Ural models now enjoy the benefits of electronic fuel injection (EFI), disc brakes (on all three wheels) and an hydraulic steering damper. Ural claims the motorcycles have received “dozens of other upgrades,” but did not provide details as to nature of those upgrades.
