Beautiful, strong running airhead café that is visually stunning as well. The bike ran and was sound but needed a complete re-do to be dependable and cosmetically appealing. The cosmetics had been neglected and weathered so paint, polish, powder coat, and new parts and pieces were needed. We have gone through and re-done the motorcycle in the current café style shown in the pictures. The engine has been gone thru, and a fresh top end, new gaskets, new seals, 40mm carburetor rebuilds, cables, wiring, mechanicals inspected and repaired or replaced as needed. The frame, sub-frame, headlight ears, and swing arm, have all been powder coated. The gas tank, fenders, and seat cowl have been re-painted Black, with a single hand painted White accent stripe. The bike retains the unmistakable BMW vintage airhead look. There are a number of pictures in order to show the quality of work and the excellent condition of the bike. All the splines have been checked, cleaned, and of course lubed with moly coat lube; a new drive shaft boot was installed. The forks received new seals, gaskets, and fork gaiters. New grips, new Bridgestone BT45 Battlax tires, new fuel lines and filters, and new petcocks installed. The gas tank is clean with the original BMW lining. The 40 mm exhaust has new aftermarket peanut style mufflers, which provide a distinctive café sound. New Plug wires and plugs. All fluids replaced with new filters and gaskets. The turn signals and tail light assembly received smaller café style treatment. The motorcycle has rear sets installed for enhanced café seating, and look. Front and rear brake pads are new. The swing arm has been reinforced to improve the cornering and handling characteristics of the BMW Frame. Koni shocks are mounted on the rear as well. A new S fairing, with a smoke tinted windshield, adds to the overall look and style and the indicator lights are neon aftermarket and installed in the upper headlight shell. The bike comes with a new Garmin GPS system, which has a waterproof cover included. The unit comes with all the accessories and paperwork so the new owner can register the unit in their name. The GPS has a lifetime map feature, and as shown in the pictures has a screen feature which shows, mileage data and speed. There are no mechanical issues and the bike runs and handles like it is supposed to. Actually it is more responsive, with the new lower handlebars, the reinforced sub frame, and the freshly tuned engine it providing excellent performance. The bike also has a new AGM sealed battery. The winning bidder is asked to transfer a $500 non-refundable deposit via PayPal, and begin making arrangements for payment with me, within 72 hours of the auctions end. The transaction to be completed within a 7 day period, unless other arrangements have been made. I will be happy to turn the bike over to your shipper, according to your directions, by your arrangement. All shipping arrangements and cost are the responsibility of the buyer. Mon, 27 May 2013The annual Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este usually features some of the world’s most beautiful classic cars, but this year’s show had a special exhibit celebrating the 90th anniversary of BMW Motorrad. More than 6,000 people visited the BMW Group-organized Concorso d’Eleganza on the shore of Italy’s Lake Como. The BMW Motorrad exhibit featured some of the company’s most notable motorcycles spanning 90 years of history including the original BMW R32 that started it all in 1923.
2011-2013 BMW F800GS and F700GS Recalled in Canada
Wed, 19 Jun 2013Transport Canada announced a recall for the 2011-2013 BMW F800GS and the 2013 F700GS because of a problem with the kickstand ignition cut-off switch. The switch is designed to turn off the engine when the stand is down and the motorcycle is shifted into gear; this prevents the motorcycle from being ridden with the kickstand deployed. On certain BMW F800GS and F700GS models however, the cut-off switch can loosen and become damaged.
