BMW R-Series description

R50 BMW R-series Motorcycle  500cc Twin

Here is your opportunity to own and drive a piece of motorcycling history.

Take a look at the pictures. This motorcycle looks and runs good.

It has good alloy rims and tires are good.
The exhaust is good with correct mufflers.
The numbers all match and it has a valid title.
It has a Denfield seat with a crack in the rubber. Included with this sale is an additional bench seat.
The sheet metal is all straight - no rust.
There’s some pitting on the chrome on the handle bars and push rod tubes on one side.
Air tubes are good.
Foot peg rubbers are good.
Inside the gas tank is not rusty. I do not have the key to the side tool box - may or may not have anything in it.
The electrics all work as they should, including the generator.
Engine starts and runs smooth.
The clutch works fine.
The transmission works fine.
It has 11/35 rear drive with S (solo) stamp on transmission.
Black paint is probably original, stripes are probably not.

This 58 year old antique motorcycle has dings and scuffs and scratches as you would expect from an unrestored classic.

The high and low beam switch is aftermarket, and works.
The pet cock is a later issue BMW part.
The hand grips are not original, but much more comfortable.

This motorcycle is for sale locally, and I reserve the right to end the eBay sale early.

Buyer is responsible for shipping/pick up. I prefer local pick up, but will work with seller on possible delivery/shipping. A non-refundable PayPal deposit of $500 is due within 24 hours. Balance in cashier’s check or cash is due upon pick-up within 7 days or special arrangement.

If you have any questions drop me a line or if you would like more pictures, forward your e-mail address to zimzop.

Opportunities to pick up these old motorcycles are really scarce.
Bid to buy, bid to restore, bid to ride, or bid to invest - the value has no place to go but up! You’re gonna love this motorcycle....

Go camping with your bike

Thu, 05 Jul 2012

Keep your bike close to you when you go camping with the MOTOTENT from motorcycle adventurers Lone Rider. Priced at £450, here's a round-up of the features from Lone Rider: The MOTOTENT is spacious enough to shelter a dual sport bike as big a BMW R1200 GSA with all its luggage, to have room to work on it, and to be able to stand in the tent. The tunnel-shaped design allows a very quick setup of the tent when needed.

Thumbs up for a chilly N.E.C.

Wed, 08 Dec 2010

Apart from the freaky weather I have to say last week’s Carole Nash Motorcycle Live N.E.C. show was the best Birmingham event I've attended in the ten years. I really appreciate the fact that manufacturers chose to ignore the recession giving us great stands to cater for every enthusiast young and old.  Aprilia made a welcome return and I don’t know anyone that didn’t enjoy admiring the WSB RSV4, surely the the most gorgeous bike on the planet? The Honda stand rarely disappoints and this year was no exception with banking bikes providing fun for all the family.
