Absolutely beautiful 1966 BSA Thunderbolt. This bike is a very nice specimen and retains its originality other than the paint and exhaust silencers. The bike is not perfect but absolutely stunning considering it has not been nut and bolt restored. 1467 miles on the odometer but engine was balanced and rebuilt less than 500 miles ago.

  • 1966 BSA A65 Thunderbolt1966 BSA A65 Thunderbolt (1966)
1966 BSA 650 Thunderbolt, titled 1967. (They were often titled in the year they were sold) I found this as a project that had been shelved and was stored in the back of a barn, partly in boxes. The engine was rebuilt and completely assembled when I found the bike, the frame still had the original paint, however the tins had all been sandblasted and were dusted in a light layer of surface rust when I found them.

I purchased this 1971 BSA Thunderbolt 650 less than a year and a half ago and in that time I've put roughly 3,500 miles on it. Since then, I've made numerous changes and upgrades which increases it's daily performance and reliability. With it's Pazon Sure-Fire electronic ignition, the bike starts right up on it's first or second kick.

  • 1971 BSA Thunderbolt1971 BSA Thunderbolt (1971)
1971 BSA Thunderbolt (A65).  Purchased in Maryland in 1974 with less than 5000 miles. Did not have tach or turn signals when purchased,. Handlebars not stock but some type of “western” bars that are comfortable so never changed them.  Not sure of seller's care and had the time so did valves and rings just in case.  Turns out was not necessary.  All numbers match. Always ridden with the 4 gallon road tank. No dents (photo is deceptive because of contours of the tank). I have the two gallon tank but it has never be on the bike. Needs work.  See photo.   Bike ridden daily as school commuter 1974 - 77.  Trailered to San Diego in 1977, garage kept and ridden ever since with decreasing frequency.

Man Builds Sidecar from Bathtub

Thu, 23 Apr 2009

Back in 1997, an unusual motorcycle appeared on the front page of the Bristol Evening Post. Unable to afford a costly traditional sidecar, bus driver Alan Iles of Bedminster opted to build his own, using a bathtub. Twelve years later, the 1959 650cc BSA is still going and has been ridden all over Europe to help raise money for Cancer research and various charities, for which he has raised thousands of British pounds.

The Steve McQueen Desert Racer

Tue, 24 Mar 2009

There are few motorcycle icons within pop culture that have endured as vividly as that of the late, great Steve McQueen. A man who was at one time the highest paid actor in Hollywood, he avoided the limelight in favor of immersing himself within his passion for motorcycles. Never afraid of getting dirty, McQueen was at his happiest flogging a bike around the track with fellow racers or tinkering with the machines himself.
