BSA Thunderbolt tech info
BSA Thunderbolt description
Hello, up for auction is a 650 Thunderbolt Project. I bought this motorcycle with the intension of rebuilding it. A friend was going to rebuild the top end. He lapped the valves and installed new valve springs. The cylinder is 40t with new pistons as shown. Sadly my friend passed away and it came back missing the majority of carb parts, some bolts, nuts and other parts I haven't realized. The bike would need a total restoration but I was looking at an unrestored bike that just ran. The pictures tell it all and what you can't see you are welcome to E-mail or call me at 620 870 8911. I will not pull it off or reveal my reserve. This motorcycle has been inside since I bought it in Texas in 07. The person I got it from said it was kept in a shed. The paint is original and the engine turns over in the bottom end. There is a clear Kansas title in my name. This bike could be left here up to 6 months, but must be paid in full in 3 days. I could not put this ad on without mileage and there is no speedometer so I put the above mileage to satisfy ebay. Thanks for looking. |

Man Builds Sidecar from Bathtub
Thu, 23 Apr 2009Back in 1997, an unusual motorcycle appeared on the front page of the Bristol Evening Post. Unable to afford a costly traditional sidecar, bus driver Alan Iles of Bedminster opted to build his own, using a bathtub. Twelve years later, the 1959 650cc BSA is still going and has been ridden all over Europe to help raise money for Cancer research and various charities, for which he has raised thousands of British pounds.
What’s Old Is New Again – Video
Mon, 14 Oct 2013There’s something distinctly cool about old British motorcycles. From the wire wheels, the minimal bodywork, and the exposed engines which give off a thunderous bark, I’ve always loved looking at old Triumphs, BSAs and the like from the 60s. I’ve never owned one though. The reason is simple: old British bikes are needy little maintenance machines notorious for the odd oil leak.
