BSA Thunderbolt description
***FINAL REDUCTION*** 1971 BSA Thunderbolt A65 650cc
Just restored to daily rider condition. Runs, rides and everything works. it's not a show restoration, but it looks pretty darn nice! Bike was sitting for years and years. Engine was rebuilt, bike was painted black (was some ugly brown color, discovered it was originally blue under that) and many, many new little parts were added. Pazon Electronic ignition NO MORE POINTS and CONDENSERS! Podtronics retifier/regulator Norman Hyde "M" bars Fork gaiters New seat cover New battery tires Speedo cup Exhaust pipes and cross-over pipe I fabbed a new little fender Stock rear fender and chain guard painted black to match BSA badges highlighted red New BSA Thunderbolt decals The bike was a matching number bike, but we found a crack in the cases and had to replace. I have the VIN pad from the original cases included just for the heck of it. Video of bike running available, also more photos. The engine, trans, wiring, carb and brakes were all gone through. The gas tank was cleaned and is in pretty good shape. The mileage is believed to be correct considering this bike has been sitting for years not running. Issues; speedo benzel cracked (original so didn't want to change it), various places on frame where paint has been touched up. Yes, it "wet-sumps" if it sits for a long time. Chain oiler drips After the bike was mechanically complete, I took it to the Barber Vintage Fest and Daytona Biketober Fest in October. Rode it about everyday. Great little bike for local riding, vintage rides and bike nights. Let me know if you have any questions via eBay. Happy to answer! Buyer 100% responsible for ALL pick up / transportation cost! I will not "crate" the bike, so I HIGHLY recommend HaulBikes. I use them all the time and they're awesome. Just roll it in their 18 wheeler and they strap it down; no gas or oil draining needed. Bike doesn't leave here until ALL funds clear my bank. $500 PayPal deposit due 48 hrs after auction end. Only sell to U.S. buyers...Sorry, had major issues with foreign buyer recently. Cheers! Bid to win! **I WILL BE OUT OF TOWN UNTIL July 4th. Bike can not be picked up until July 5th. |

Man Builds Sidecar from Bathtub
Thu, 23 Apr 2009Back in 1997, an unusual motorcycle appeared on the front page of the Bristol Evening Post. Unable to afford a costly traditional sidecar, bus driver Alan Iles of Bedminster opted to build his own, using a bathtub. Twelve years later, the 1959 650cc BSA is still going and has been ridden all over Europe to help raise money for Cancer research and various charities, for which he has raised thousands of British pounds.
The Fonz Never Really Rode a Motorcycle!
Tue, 02 Jun 2009According to the “King of Cool” himself, “The Fonz” (Henry Winkler) never actually rode any motorcycles during the ten year Happy Days television run. Winkler, never rode a bike in real life either, he has dyslexia, which made it difficult for him to co-ordinate the clutch, throttle and brake. Instead, the bikes (Harley Davidson’s, Triumph’s, BSA’s were used) were mounted on a piece of wood with wheels to make it look like he was riding, even though I am not shocked, I am a little disappointed… You can watch the interview with Winkler, the famous motorcycle jump “The Fonz” made over 14 trashcans and a bonus “Jump the Shark” video after the jump.
