You are bidding on a 1976 BMW R75/6 motorcycle. I have owned this bike for 1 year. It had been previously owned by a local attorney who had it serviced, gas drained and parked it at the end of 2004. It had been sitting in a conditioned garage until I purchased it. It has a clean Indiana title. I checked all of the vitals, filled with fresh gas and installed a battery. The bike started and runs. I have not taken any of the components off of the motor, or done any type of internal inspection. I have ridden it about 15 miles. I did rebuild the front master cylinder which was leaking and it now works perfectly. I bought it as a project bike but decided to sell because of an out of state job transfer. There are some scratches in the paintwork and a couple small dents in the tank. The pictures tell the story. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like additional photos. Possibly the most dependable fun to ride bike that BMW made. It completely gone over by the BMW dealer in Grand Rapids. New battery new Master cyl, tuned up ready to ride. I would not be afraid to take this bike anywhere. I have put 100,000 miles on R65's starting in 1978 and never had a problem. I would not be selling this bike but I am disabled and have to move to a trike. The bike fell down at a gas station and the odometer broke. So, the mileage has to be listed as unknown It read 27,000 miles at that time and has not been used much since. delivery is on you but if you live in Michigan I will bring it to you for free, probably drive it if I can. Up for bidding is a 1973 BMW R60 / 5 motorcycle. This motorcycle was from an estate, found in the back of the garage covered by a mountain of bankets. Apparently, the bike was running well when last driven, sometime about 3-4 years ago. There is no battery, so we haven't tried to start it. The wheels roll freely, engine isn't frozen or anything, seems to have compression when kicking, there are no drips/leaks, tires are decent and hold air well, it does come with the keys. The title was issued to the owner in 1980, and he had it ever since. That's 36 years with the same owner, a buyers dream. The odometer reads 97671, and the BMW dealer sticker from the last oil change, on the inside rear fender, reads 97409. So, I believe the mileage is probably accurate, and there's no reason to think that the bike wouldn't still run fine. I can see that the right side cover is missing, but otherwise this bike looks to be pretty complete. It even has the original tool kit and users manual under the seat. All of the lights/lens are good, except for the tail light lens which has been slightly broken. The seat is in great shape, with no rips or tears. I took a lot of pictures, so that you'd get a good idea of the bikes overall condition. If you're looking at this bike, you know how rare these "Toasters" are becoming, as they only made them for a couple of years. I am listing the bike with a very reasonable starting price, well below current NADA blue book values for this model, and the high bidder will get to take this home. Looking at part prices for this bike, I would guess that one could even just part it out and make a tidy profit. In my opinion, this is not by any means just a parts bike. This should be given some tlc and ridden!! This is a NO RESERVE auction. I have 100% LIFETIME feedback as a seller, so no worries here. Restored, numbers matching 1976 R75/6 BMW 750cc Airhead with 36,814 original miles. This motorcycle has no dings or dents; all new paint/clear coat with hand-painted pin stripes. Garage kept Arizona bike with no rust. Rare S-Fairing with working clock, working volt meter and new windshield. The top end has been resealed per factory specs. Continental tires have 1500 miles on them. All rubber pieces on the bike have been replaced. New cables, alcohol proof float kits and mirrors. Wheels have been trued and ride very nicely. FIM Eases WSBK Homologation Requirements
Sat, 22 Feb 2014With the 2014 World Superbike Championship now under way, the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) announced a change in the homologation procedure for new motorcycles entering the series. The new regulations requires a minimum of 125 units produced in order to begin the homologation process. By the end of the first year of participation, manufacturers must have produced 250 units.

Michael Dunlop to Race for BMW at 2014 Isle of Man TT
Wed, 12 Feb 2014BMW Motorrad UK has signed seven-time winner Michael Dunlop to race in the 2014 Isle of Man TT and other international road races. Dunlop will be the first factory-backed BMW rider in 50 years, and will try to be the first rider to win a TT race on a BMW since Georg Meier won in 1939 on a RS 255 Kompressor. Dunlop, nephew of the great Joey Dunlop, was the star of the 2013 Isle of Man TT, winning four races and finishing second in the Senior TT on Honda machines.

2013 US Motorcycle Sales Data
Tue, 04 Feb 2014The Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) reported a modest 1.4% growth in U.S. motorcycle and scooter sales in 2013, with consumers purchasing 465,783 vehicles. The sales data represents numbers from the MIC’s member brands which include BMW, Can-Am, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, the Piaggio Group (which includes Aprilia, Moto Guzzi and Vespa), Victory, Suzuki, Triumph and Yamaha.
2014 WSBK Provisional Entry List – 27 Riders and 9 Manufacturers

The provisional list includes 27 riders riding motorcycles from nine different manufacturers. Of these riders, 12 are riding in the new EVO sub-category which limits engine upgrades and electronics to Superstock class rules.

Ural models now enjoy the benefits of electronic fuel injection (EFI), disc brakes (on all three wheels) and an hydraulic steering damper. Ural claims the motorcycles have received “dozens of other upgrades,” but did not provide details as to nature of those upgrades.
