MECHANICAL ADDITIONS INCLUDED A STRENGTHENED SWINGARM (BY A CLAIMED 20%) AND REAR SHOCK WITH A SIDE FACING FLUID RESERVOIR, STIFFENED FRAME WITH RELOCATED SOLID ENGINE MOUNTS, INCREASED TRAIL AND REDUCED FORK OFFSET, AND NEW NISSIN 4 PISTON CALIPER BRAKES AND 320MM DISCS AT THE FRONT WHEEL. SLIGHT ENGINE MODIFICATIONS INCLUDED A RETURN TO THE B/C MODEL STYLE KEIHIN CVKD CARBURATOR AND A 10% HEAVIER CRANKSHAFT OFFSET BY A REDUCED DIAMETER FLYWHEEL REPORTED TO HELP THE ENGINE SPIN QUICKER, BOOSTING LOW AND MID RANGE TORQUE. It also delivers better response and control through eliminating the factory fuel cut off and optimizing the off throttle deceleration mapping.
Steam Punk Bike
Wed, 19 Jan 2011This steam-punk inspired bike is the work of LA based sculptor and, er, free thinker, Baron Margo. From what we can work out is uses an early eighties air-cooled Z1000 Kawasaki as a base and is cloaked in this hand beaten alloy and copper bodywork. Can’t imagine it’s much fun in a cross wind, though.
