BMW R-Series description

This is a very rare item.  I am selling a 1981 BMW R65 touring motorcycle that has an interesting and famous previous owner. This motorcycle was purchased and owned originally by Super Computer Visionary Stephen Wozniak of Apple Computers. This is a vintage 648cc touring motorcycle with shaft drive and many extras listed below that runs and rides beautifully. I inherited this classical and collectible motorcycle from an uncle and was told at the time that my uncle had bought the cycle from the original owner Stephen Wozniak of Apple Computer fame. Yes, you read that correctly. This motorcycle was once owned by THE WOZ of Apple Computers. I have done extensive research and data review/retrieval on this motorcycle to gather as much hard evidence of ownership and documentation provenance from the CA. DMV and my local BMW showroom to show prior ownership by Mr. Wozniak. For documentation  I have registration information, the original plastic card of ownership with Mr. Wozniak’s name and information and assorted document printouts. I also have the original owner’s manual and other information received from the local BMW showroom/garage that show proof of prior ownership. It has taken many years of research to collect all these documents/providence/proof. I have purposely tried to keep the motorcycle as original as possible and have tried to use BMW specific trained mechanics from the BMW garage/showroom and BMW parts. It runs like a champ and has low miles with the odometer reading 11877 miles. It has been garage kept as far as I know.  Any scratches appear as normal wear and tear for a bike this old. The cycle has almost everything that came with it originally except for the original windscreen and BMW toolbox. It comes with the original tire pump/inflation device that attaches to the engine and allows you to fill up the air in the motorcycle tires. I have also added or recently bought new tires (they still have little nubs), after market seat, new grips, a new battery, new handlebars and mirrors, some new fuel tubing, and new fluids, also comes with the original hard case BMW saddlebags that are in wonderful shape and fit on the motorcycle like the day it rolled off the line. It has the classical BMW air head/boxer engine that was designed for high levels of durability and reliability. It also has the original air quality emissions equipment needed for CA. requirements from back in the 1980’s. It is an excellent ride and a very clean looking motorcycle. This is a collector’s level motorcycle that has solid ties to one of American’s technology giants. The pictures on Ebay do not do this motorcycle justice.  Its in wonderful shape and looks and runs great.   This bike's has a very cool paint-job from the factory that has gold pin striping and I've done my best to preserve it. It has a great patina and classical BMW motorcycle silhouette. It is one of most well built and the sturdiest motorcycle I have ever seen or ridden. The documents proving MR. Wozniak once owned this bike is the registration card, plastic BMW for warranty rewards, the original newspaper clipping for motorcycle ownership cert., CA DMV records of title etc,  the release of ownership, etc.  All documents are in very good shape.

A $750.00 deposit is due within 48 hours of the end of the auction and the balance is due within 7 days. Deposit payment can be made on Paypal or other agreed upon account. Unless otherwise agreed upon, the bike must be shipped or picked up within 7 days of the auction's end. Communication from buyer is required within 48 hours of the auction end, or the winning bidder risks having the auction re-listed on Ebay. We accept certified bank checks, bank to bank wire transfers, and of course cash in person. The reserve and lowest amount I will take is $4,500.00 for the motorcycle.   My bank now requires that any out of state certified checks, money orders, treasurer’s checks, etc. require 7 business days to clear. Please keep this in mind when considering delivery time. No joyrides and no trades. Only serious inquiries will be entertained.

Buyer is responsible for motorcycle pick up and transportation. Seller will not pay for transport of the motorcycle. The motorcycle is located close to Colorado SpringsColorado. Fly in to Colorado Springs, Co. and ride this treasure home or contact a motorcycle shipping company to get your new motorcycle home to start enjoying this wonderful machine. ***Buyer is completely responsible for transportation of motorcycle from seller’s location***.

This motorcycle is being sold as is/where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied. No refunds.

Please review the pictures included and let us know if anyone has any questions, comments or requests. Pictures do not do this motorcycle justice. I’m not the most knowledgeable mechanic type but will try to answer any questions that might arise for the sale of this item.

Thank you and happy bidding on this one of a kind item.

Bridgestone BT-023 tyre tested

Fri, 19 Mar 2010

Replacing the BT-021, the 023 has a uniform carcass construction but has two different compounds of rubber to alter its performance. The inner rubber is harder for increased life while the rubber on the tyre’s edges is softer for outright grip. On the brief dry sections of our ride the 023 seemed to get up to working temperature rapidly and delivered good dry grip, certainly more than enough for most road riders if you are honest about your riding ability.
