BMW R-Series description

I had been looking for clean, all original, one owner bike for over a year when I found this one. I wanted Curry but when I saw this one I couldn't resist. You just don't see many green ones to begin with and this one had it all. After I got it I went through everything to make it a daily rider. The Odometer is intermittent and I cannot say for sure how long that's been that way but I can't have been that way for long based on the condition of the bike. It runs smoother than my R80/7 and get way more attention.  New push rod seals, cylinder base gaskets, new points, all new fluids except for fork oil. Rebuilt the carburetors and petcocks. New fuel lines and filters. Tires look good so I left them alone. The final drive and wheel drive splines were replaced to the tune of over $1000 dollars by the original owner as well. The wixom bags were painted to match the bike years ago and are wired to the running lights. I don't like the wire routing myself and would have re worked the wires had I not found the bike I originally looking for. A Curry toaster! So as much as I like the looks of this green one in the garden I'm limiting myself to one toaster at a time and letting this one go. Thanks for looking and you can contact me anytime with any questions you might have.

Naked BMW S1000RR Spotted Testing in Italy – Video

Wed, 29 May 2013

Italian site Motociclismo.it has published a video of what appears to be a naked version of the BMW S1000RR being tested on public roads in Rovereto, Italy. The test model was dressed in camouflage and appears to be close to being ready for production, especially compared to the earlier prototype spotted testing last summer. We expect BMW will officially unveil this S1000RR-based streetfighter at either the Intermot show in Cologne, Germany, or the EICMA show in Milan, Italy, later this fall.

BMW announced sales of 108,872 motorcycles and scooters, shattering last year’s company record for annual sales by 2.4%. Even more impressively, BMW reached that mark by the end of November and still has a whole month’s worth of sales to pad its record. In 2012, BMW sold 106,358 motorcycles and scooters to set a new company record.

BMW Design Chief David Robb Steps Down; Edgar Heinrich Named Successor

Mon, 30 Jan 2012

David Robb, the man responsible for BMW‘s split-face motorcycle design, has left the German manufacturer. A native of Boston, Mass., Robb joined BMW as its design chief in 1993, and over the ensuing 18 years expanded the company’s product line to include the top selling R1200GS, the six-cylinder K1600GT and GTL, and the S1000RR superbike (that’s him on the far right in the picture above). The 56-year-old’s latest design to enter production are the C600 Sport and C650GT maxi-scooters.
