BMW R-Series tech info
BMW R-Series description
1970 numbers matching BMW R75/5 with the desirable short wheel base. This bike has been fully rebuilt and is ready to go!! I received this bike in boxes after it had only seen 14k miles and rebuilt, renewed or replaced every part. The engine was rebuilt professionally by Bancroft Motorcycle Works in Ohio along with the rear end. New rings, clutch, timing chain and all the gaskets/seals were replaced. A 280w charging system was added to up the juice over the stock 100w. The speedo was sent to Overseas speedo and rebuilt leaving the original miles intact I added led bulbs so that those difficult lights will NEVER have to be changed again. The frame was stripped and powder-coated in gloss black along with the swingarm, rear springs and the Reynolds ride off stand. The paint is BMW /2 Dover White with hand applied correct pin striping on a /6 sport tank that really looks great. The seat is new and comfortable. The forks were rebuilt to as new condition with new seals and gaiters. New wiring, cables, bolts, bulbs and all the rubber bits were replaced. The brakes were rebuilt and work great. tires are new Metzlers with less than 900 miles on them along with natural rubber tubes The carbs were rebuilt and tuned at Bancroft Motorcycle Works; this bike hums! I added period correct Albert headlight mirrors and a /2 sidecar handlebar for a more relaxed cafe look; you can ride all day and look cool doing it!! The only "cons" on this bike are a couple paint blemishes less than the size of a quarter and some gas staining on the carbs. This bike doesn't leak a drop, starts right up, runs smooth, stops great and is as cool as the other side of the pillow. This bike has less than 900 miles since being finished and all of the break in maintenance is done; all of the bugs are worked out and she is ready to ride across the country or the next bike night. I am still riding this bike so the mileage will change. This was going to be my "forever" bike and I built it that way. Life has other plans and the time has come for me to move on but she is ready to go to a good home where she will be appreciated. I am willing to help with shipping (within reason) and will deliver the bike up to 500 miles for $1.00/mile loaded. If you are interested I could swap the tank for a toaster or even a stock large 5 gal tank (both would need to be painted and therefore would take a little time to complete) Please don't bid unless you plan to buy!! Used Review: BMW Trailguard jacket and trousers
Sun, 01 Nov 2009Ride a BMW, wear the official gear. The Trailguard is one of their top-range textile two-piecers. Fitting brochure is mind-bogglingly complicated, I went into Vines of Guildford and got them to measure me up instead.
BMW Begins Motorcycle Production in Thailand
Thu, 28 Nov 2013BMW has opened a new motorcycle assembly line at the company’s factory in Thailand. The facility will initially only produce F800R roadsters from complete knock-down kits for the Thai market, though BMW plans to eventually make the facility a production hub for other Asian markets. The Thai facility is BMW’s first wholly-owned motorcycle assembly plant outside of Germany, though the company does share facilities in Manaus, Brazil with local manufacturer DAFRA Motos.
Fisker + Lego = the Lauge Jensen Viking Cruiser Concept
Thu, 17 Apr 2014What do you get when you bring together the designer of the Fisker Karma and the great-grandson of the founder of Lego? The answer is this cruiser concept model by Danish brand Lauge Jensen called the Viking. The company was formed in 2004 by bike builder Uffe Lauge Jensen but later sold to industrialist Anders Kirk Johansen, the scion of one of Denmark’s wealthiest families and great-grandson of Ole Kirk Christiansen who invented Lego building blocks.
