2009 Bmw R 1200 GS, 2009 BMW R 1200 GS - Feasts on pavement. Chews dirt. Demands seconds. Twisties? Touring? Gravel roads? This year, a five-percent increase in power raises its output to 105 ponies for even quicker acceleration. Handling is agile and precise thanks to a Telelever suspension system, and with Enduro ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) you can adjust both front and rear suspensions between sport, normal, comfort, and off-road settings. The 2008 R 1200 GS also gets a few sporty new features that make it even more eye-catching, including stainless steel knee covers on each side of the gas tank, dynamic cylinder covers, as well as an ergonomic aluminum handlebar and a more comfortable seat. The result? A bike that thrashes every road you throw at it and begs for more. Enduro Legend Juha Salminen Announces Retirement

Finnish racer Juha Salminen announced his retirement from racing at the end of the 2013 World Enduro Championship, capping off a career that included 13 world championships and a record 96 World Enduro Championship wins. Only the great Giacomo Agostini holds more individual motorcycle racing world titles than Salminen with 15. “Enduro as a sport has given me a lot, but now it is time to move on to new challenges.

BMW Design Chief David Robb Steps Down; Edgar Heinrich Named Successor

David Robb, the man responsible for BMW‘s split-face motorcycle design, has left the German manufacturer. A native of Boston, Mass., Robb joined BMW as its design chief in 1993, and over the ensuing 18 years expanded the company’s product line to include the top selling R1200GS, the six-cylinder K1600GT and GTL, and the S1000RR superbike (that’s him on the far right in the picture above). The 56-year-old’s latest design to enter production are the C600 Sport and C650GT maxi-scooters.
