Schwantz Rides Suzuki RGV500 2-Stroke At Goodwood

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

Kevin Schwantz, the 1993 500cc World Grand Prix Champion, rode his iconic #34 Lucky Strike Suzuki RGV500 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed over the weekend.

Celebrating its 20 year, FoS, the world’s largest motoring garden party, held in West Sussex, U.K., brings together present and past dignitaries of both motorcycle and auto racing. The three-day event attracted upwards of 150,000 spectators this year.

The 48-year-old Schwantz rode the 2-stroke, 500cc Suzuki machine that gained him the 1993 world championship. Afterward, Schwantz met-up with Suzuki’s long-standing Grand Prix Team Manager, Garry Taylor.

At the end of the month Schwantz is set to ride in the World Endurance Championship alongside Yukio Kagayama and Noriyuki Haga aboard a GSX-R1000. Schwantz and ‘Team Kagayama’ enter the 2013 Coca-Cola Zero Suzuka 8 Hours on July 28th – the biggest and most-prestigious motorcycle race on Japan’s motorcycle racing calendar – as one of three major Suzuki contenders for the race victory alongside the Yoshimura Suzuki Racing Team and also reigning World Champions, the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team (SERT).
