2014 Honda CB1100 Announced

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

The Honda CB1100 has only been available here in North America for a year, but for 2014, the retro-styled standard is already getting an update. That’s because the CB1100 has been around for a bit longer overseas, and for nearly everywhere but here, it’s ripe for a modest refresh.

For 2014, Honda is replacing the previous version’s five-speed transmission with a six-speed gearbox. The extra gear is an overdrive that Honda claims improves fuel economy and makes for a more relaxed ride, with lower rpms at freeway speeds. The instrumentation has also been updated, now with a gear indicator and a fuel computer to calculate fuel efficiency and estimated range. Honda also updated the turn signals and raised the headlight by about an inch. Also new is the graphite black paint scheme.

The CB1100 is otherwise the same as the 2013 model. The engine remains a 1140cc Inline-Four claiming 88.5 hp at 7500 rpm and 68.6 ft-lb. at 5000 rpm. The 41mm conventional fork offers preload adjustability while the twin rear shocks also offer adjustable spring preload. The braking system consists of twin 296mm front rotors with four-piston Nissin calipers and a single two-piston rear caliper gripping a 256mm disc. ABS is standard for European models

American Honda has yet to announce the CB1100 for 2014, and we’d be surprised if we didn’t receive the same updates. We await U.S. pricing and availability.
