2014 Harley-Davidson Tri Glide Ultra Classic Recalled

Tue, 08 Oct 2013

Harley-Davidson is recalling the 2014 Tri Glide Ultra Classic trike  because of a problem with . At the moment, a recall has only been announced by Transport Canada; the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has yet to announce the recall due to the federal government shutdown, but recall notices are already being sent out to dealers in the U.S.

According to the Canadian agency, the upper fork stem bracket was machined incorrectly, allowing for more steering angle than intended by the trike’s specifications. At full tilt, the fairing may come into contact with the the rear brake reservoir, potentially resulting in a loss of brake fluid, which would reduce braking performance.

The increased steering angle call also turn the steering damper into a steering stop, potentially damaging the damper and affecting steering.

Harley-Davidson dealers will inspect the fork stem bracket on affected units and, if necessary, replace it with a bracket that has been machined correctly. The recall affects 51 units in Canada. We’ll have to wait for NHTSA to get back to work to know how many units in the U.S. are also affected.
