2010 Triumph Speed Triple exhausts tested

Over the last month I’ve been busy trying out some of the exhausts available for the Speed Triple. Apart from being very easy to fit, they all claim power gains of around 8bhp and give substantial weight savings. It’s worth noting at this point that Triumph only recommend Arrow cans and discourage the fitting of slip on exhausts especially if they are not mapped to the bike. Here’s how they all faired.

Stock Exhaust

Arrow Slip ons

Arrow is Triumphs official aftermarket exhaust supplier. The pipes are made specifically for the Speed Triple and are designed to be run in conjunction with a new Triumph engine map installed at your local dealer. The cans are high quality with removable baffles keeping the noise down to a road legal 92dp. Remove the baffles and you get a loud raspy tune at 102db. Throttle response became more immediate and the bike gained noticeably more torque.

Leo Vince GP Style

From opening the box to tightening the last bolt it’s clear the Leo Vince is well made. The quality of the components are excellent with washers machined from billet aluminium and a hanger bracket in real carbon fibre. Without the baffle it was the loudest can in the test and also the longest. Loved the retro street looks and the cool satin Titanium finish. You also get a certificate and a sticker to certify the road legality of the pipes if you get questioned in a foreign country, a nice touch!

BOS shorty

The lightest and smallest can in the test. The BOS took 5 minutes to bolt on and gave a really deep sound with loads of spitting and popping on the overrun. I loved the American street fighter looks and the shot blasted finish. The BOS can is the most compact can on the market really showing off the single side mounted rear wheel.

Two Brothers Racing

Traditional style can in slick carbon fibre. It’s the only single sided high mounted silencer on the market and looks really awesome with the one piece polished extension pipe. Loved the gold anodised components and magnesium end cap. The quietist can on the test but still gave a instantly recognisable throaty sound…also won the “best presented when packaged” award.
