Yamaha YZF description

2011 Yamaha YZFR1, Yamaha's 1 YZF-R1, the only production motorcycle with a crossplane crankshaft. The 2011 YZF-R1 is powered by a 1000cc, DOHC, 4-valve, in-line 4 engine developing 182 hp at 12500 rpm and 85 lb.ft. of torque at 10,000 rpm, and delivering a fuel consumption of 40mpg.

The engine features forged aluminum pistons that take maximum advantage of the power characteristics. Titanium intake valves are lightweight. A forced-air intake system is adopted to increase intake efficiency by using the natural airflow during riding to pressurize the air in the air box. This contributes to outstanding power delivery characteristics in the high-speed range, while the design also helps to minimize intake noise. This one has aftermarket carbon fiber fairings and side panels.

Also for 2011,  instead of the usual four-bulb headlight design, the R1 has only two projector-type bulbs mounted closer to the nose of the bike. This positions ram air ducts closer in for a more compact, smooth look. In addition, the rounded lenses are unique to the supersport industry.  Fully serviced and ready to ride!!! It can be seen at Brennys East, 3924 State St, in Bettendorf,Iowa 563-359-7333 or 888-391-7341. Be sure to visit brennys dot com for this, and lots of other bikes, and ATVs!!!!

Yamaha Officially Announces Monster Energy Sponsorship

Tue, 08 Jan 2013

As we reported in December, energy drink producer Monster Energy has signed a sponsorship agreement with Yamaha‘s factory MotoGP program, putting its brand on the Yamaha YZR-M1 race bikes, team clothing and equipment, as well as riders Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi. Monster Energy already had a personal sponsorship deal with Rossi but the company will now also sponsor Lorenzo. The reigning MotoGP Champion had previously had a sponsorship arrangement with rival energy drink company RockStar, but Yamaha exercised a clause in its contract with Lorenzo allowing a buy out of the RockStar deal as it conflicts with the team’s sponsor.

OEMs Plug into Electric Bikes

Sat, 01 Nov 2008

KTM introduced its prototype electric motorcycle earlier this week, and electric bike manufacturer Zero Motorcycles almost immediately responded by opening sales on its 2009 Zero X dirt bike (look for our review of the 2008 model next week!). But these two companies aren’t the only ones exploring the possibilities of electric-powered motorcycles. In September, Japan’s largest industrial information journal Nikkei Business Daily reported that both Honda and Yamaha have set target dates for launching their own electric-powered motorcycles.
