Yamaha YZF-R description

I am selling a 2000 R6.  34001 miles.  Clean title in hand.  This bike looks really nice, and runs just as good.  No maintenance due, no work to complete.  Has all stock equipment except turn signals.  Very small dent on lip of front rim.  I don't even notice it.  Tank has two small scratches.  The ignition switch had a bad contact, so I installed a 20 amp toggle switch on the side of the bike.  The R6s are theft deterrent, so the switch has to be drilled out.  Also, I put black tape over a small tear on the side of the back seat.  Anyway, I bought this bike about a year ago and drove it 720 miles home.

I've never had an issue except the intermittent switch.  The tires are Michelin Pilot.  The soft kind, not 2ct.  All electrical works fine.  The engine fires first piston up and pulls all the way to 15.5k.  Top speed is in the 160s and I've been fast but not that fast.  These bikes are about 430 lbs and 105+ rwhp.  So the hp/weight ratio is higher than a Corvette ZR1.  That's why I left it stock.  It's got plenty of umph.

Buyer will pay 100 dollar deposit, and balance before taking delivery.  Buyer is responsible for pick up.

Yamaha to Produce PES1 and PED1 Electric Motorcycles by 2016

Mon, 21 Apr 2014

Yamaha announced plans to release the production versions of its PES1 and PED1 concept models within two years as part of the company’s plans to enter the electric motorcycle segment. The PES1 and PED1 (which stands for “Passion, Electric, Street” and “Passion, Electric, Dirt”) concepts were first revealed at last November’s Tokyo Motor Show. In the company’s newly-published annual report, Yamaha confirmed plans to produce the two models, saying: “In sports motorcycles, we are working to create new value with EV sports motorcycles, which we aim to launch in two years, with the development of the small, on-road sports PES1, as well as the PED1, which are being developed to expand the scope of electric vehicles to the off-road world.

Graves Yamaha AMA Racer Injured in Scooter Accident

Thu, 29 Mar 2012

Motorcycle racers recognize they compete in a dangerous sport, risking serious harm in a crash. Of course, all riders know about the risks, whether they’re on a race track or on the street. Still it seems odd to hear Daytona Sportbike racer Cameron Beaubier broke his knee cap and injured his wrist crashing a 50cc scooter on the street.

Yamaha Announces AMA Road Racing Teams For 2013

Wed, 30 Jan 2013

Today, Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA, has announced its U.S. road racing teams to compete in the 2013 GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Racing season, which kicks off in March at the famed Daytona International Speedway.  Superbike In the AMA Pro National Guard Superbike division, Yamaha is fielding “Team Josh,” as three-time and defending class champion, Josh Hayes once again teams up with Josh Herrin, the 2012 AMA Rookie of the Year. Despite setting single-season records for the most SuperBike wins, the most consecutive SuperBike wins, and the most SuperBike poles, the elder Josh hasn’t lost any of his competitive fire. During the off-season, Josh signed a two-year contract to stay with Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha because he loves the team and he still feels that he’s got a lot of unfinished business to attend to.
