Yamaha XS description

1973 Yamaha TX 650. Kick and electric start. I installed a Pamco ignition and hi output coil, bike starts w/ one kick hot or cold. Original mufflers sound great and are in fine condition. I picked this bike up 3 yrs ago and did an over the winter restoration to it. I installed a second disc up front with Spiegler braided brake hoses, new master cylinder and pads.  New oring chain and sprockets, clutch actuator and cable.  Carbs and petcocks have been rebuilt, new throttle cables and grips. All electric work proper and the charging system is great. I had the seat reupholstered and new foam put on.  I did the tapered steering head bearings and the bronze swingarm bushings.  The motor has never been apart to my knowledge and the compression is great with no leaks on or under the engine.  The original speedometer was replaced after I got it and the actual mileage is closer to 18k than what the present speedo shows.  The paint is all original and looks great except for one small chipped area near the fuel cap and some fading on the left side near the Yamaha badge. The tires are at about 70% of life left on them.  This has been an original VT bike and thus the mileage is pretty low.  The bike runs great but I have other projects and no time to ride right now.  I'd like to see someone use it and not have it sit in my garage all winter.  I will need a 10% deposit on the winning bid and the bike must be picked up or shipped within 10 days.

Today, Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA, has announced its U.S. road racing teams to compete in the 2013 GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Racing season, which kicks off in March at the famed Daytona International Speedway.  Superbike In the AMA Pro National Guard Superbike division, Yamaha is fielding “Team Josh,” as three-time and defending class champion, Josh Hayes once again teams up with Josh Herrin, the 2012 AMA Rookie of the Year. Despite setting single-season records for the most SuperBike wins, the most consecutive SuperBike wins, and the most SuperBike poles, the elder Josh hasn’t lost any of his competitive fire. During the off-season, Josh signed a two-year contract to stay with Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha because he loves the team and he still feels that he’s got a lot of unfinished business to attend to.

Frog eBike – the Electric Successor to 1985 Frog FZ750 Concept

Tue, 03 Apr 2012

San Francisco-based Frog Design released images of a new electric motorcycle concept, just as its influential Yamaha FZ750-based Rana concept gets enshrined at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Frog designer Jin Soek Hwang prepared the Frog eBike concept as an expression of how electric motor technology can influence motorcycle design. In a post on Frog’s blog, the designer says he was inspired in part by Frog’s 1985 FZ750 Rana concept (pictured after the jump).
