Yamaha To Host A Full Slate Of Activities During Laguna Seca MotoGP Weekend July 19-21

If you’re going to be at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, July 19-21, be sure to stop by the Yamaha Marketplace, located between turns 5 and 6, as this will be the eighth consecutive year Yamaha and the raceway have worked together to bring race fans entertainment throughout the weekend. Yamaha Reports 2011 Results

Yamaha Motor Corp/ reported a net profit of 27 billion yen (US$345 million) in 2011, compared to a profit of 18.3 billion yen (US$243 million) year before. Overall net sales were down 1.4% to 1.28 billion yen (US$16.3 billion), but operating income rose 4.1% to 53.4 billion yen (US$682 million). The increase in operating income came despite the negative impact of last March’s earthquake in Japan and flooding in Thailand.

Dennis Charlett is stamping his authority on the New Zealand Superbike championship. The 45 year-old father of five and grandfather of three (no, those aren’t typos) won the first three races of the season during the series opener in Christchurch, placing him firmly at the top of the points standings heading into round two at Levels Raceway, near Timaru. The championship favorite certainly got the wake-up call as Taupo’s Suzuki rider Scott Moir raced to a convincing win in Saturday’s Superbike race, while Charlett was forced to settle for fourth place.
