Yamaha R5 description

I have for sale my fully restored 1972 Yamaha R5 for sale. This is a fairly rare motorcycle, made for three years. This is the precursor to the Yamaha RD350. This is a very unique 350cc two stroke, and is quite fun to ride.

Specifics:
• Frame off rebuild
• Frame repaint
• All body panels/tank repainted blue (non-original, but very nice)
• All original badging
• All chrome fully polished including wheels
• Forks/drum brakes polished as well
• New battery
• New foam, and seat cover with passenger strap
• New tires with about 150 miles
• New wheel bearings
• New chain
• NOS rear sprocket
• Fully rebuilt carbs
• Engine was disassembled and all crank seals were replaced. Internals were in great shape
• New plugs
• New coils from HVC cycle

There may be a few specifics I'm forgetting at this point; however, this bike has been fully gone through and works great.

I found this in a pile of boxes a little over a year ago, and it was my full intention to enjoy restoring this beauty, and putting it up for sale - and my fiance is making sure I stick to the original plan.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions - 330-321-8664 or jbows51@gmail.com. I am at the moment installing new coils, as the originals just didn't cut it.

Thanks!

A breath of fresh air

Fri, 09 Nov 2012

Dean Benstead's air-powered bike project, O2 Pursuit, which we spoke about a year ago, seems to have come along nicely since. Here's a video of the Australian's rotary air compression-engined Yamaha WR250R being taken out for a spin. Apparently it can hit 87 mph and cover more than 60 miles on a scuba-tankful's worth.

Small-Displacement Class Considered for 2015 AMA Pro Racing Season

Wed, 04 Dec 2013

More and more manufacturers are entering the small-displacement sportbike market and AMA Pro Racing has taken notice, opening the possibility of adding a new racing class representing the growing segment. With plans to consolidate the Daytona Sportbike and Supersport classes and the Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson series signed through 2015, a spot will open up on race weekends for another racing class to support the premier Superbike Championship. The logical choice is to introduce a new small-displacement class.
