Yamaha Signed On As Presenting Sponsor For Three-Event GEICO Motorcycle Superbike Shootout

Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., is proud to announce that it has signed on as sponsor for the GEICO Motorcycle Superbike Shootout Presented By Yamaha, a three-event championship motorcycle road racing series that includes the Yamaha SoCal Nationals at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA on April 26-27; the Pacific Nationals at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, CA on May 3-4; and the Mountain Nationals at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT on May 24-25. The announcement was made by Bob Starr, General Manager of National Communications for Yamaha’s Motorsports Group. James Stewart Signs With Joe Gibbs Racing – Bubba Returning to Motocross and Eying Future in Nascar

James Stewart has signed a multi-year contract with JGRMX, the motocross division of Joe Gibbs Racing. Stewart raced the last three years with the L & M Yamaha factory team, and he will continue with the Tuning Fork brand with JGRMX, riding a Yamaha YZ450F. The two-time AMA Supercross and one-time AMA Motocross Champion will debut with JGRMX at the Jan.

Lorenzo Leads Sepang Test Day 1; Spies Fourth on 1000cc Yamaha M1

Yamaha‘s Jorge Lorenzo topped all riders with a top lap time of 2:01.657 on the first day of pre-season MotoGP testing at Malaysia’s Sepang circuit. With reigning World Champion Casey Stoner ailing and unable to ride, Lorenzo produced the top time as the only racer to lap Sepang in under 2 minutes 2 seconds. Riding the 1000cc Yamaha YZR-M1, Lorenzo topped second-ranked Dani Pedrosa and his Honda RC213V by 0.343 seconds.
