Yamaha Other description

1986 Yamaha Fazer, FZ700cc 5 valve Genesis 4 cyl engine, 6 gear transmission, water-cooled. engine based on the FZ/FZR750 engine but with a shorter crank to pass 1985 tariff laws. It weighs 40-50lbs less than the popular FZ sport bike did the same year. Yamaha called it an "American Standard Sport" bike. (Cycle World magazine BIKE OF THE YEAR in 1986-87) Looks similar to the V-max, and was only sold in the US in 1986 and 1987, so it is a fairly rare classic bike, especially in such terrific condition. The stock version handles great, and is very quick...0-60 in 2.2 seconds right out of the box... But I wasn't satisfied with it's incredible stock power and handling, and wanted to keep up with today's modern bikes, so I jetted the carbs, had a larger sprocket installed, added Lazier exhaust pipes and had it dynode...all increasing the HORSEPOWER to around 130 at the rear tire, and making it substantially quicker. Then I dropped the bars cafe style and put much stickier Metzlers on it, so now I can Handel with the new bikes too. I still have the stock parts if anyone wants to easily put it back to original. Replacement parts still available through several on-line parts suppliers such as Bike Bandit and Ron Ayers, should the buyer ever need them in the future.. Approx 11k original miles Gets around 50mph hwy cruising, 3.4 gallon gas tank(including .8 gallons reserve), gets 119-135mis on the 2.6 gallons usually before the low fuel light comes on, telling the rider it's time to switch to reserve using the handlebar mounted fuel switch.I don't ride it much as all my riding friends have either moved or sold their bikes, so it just sits in my garage. It has a brand new battery and is ridden about a mile every 2 weeks to keep if fresh. This bike is a serious conversation piece at all the "Bike Events" that I've ever attended. It even got more attention than my custom chopper when My friends would ride it to the bars with me. For the money you can't get a bike that is as fast as the new bikes, but with such a classic appeal!!!Troy***PLEASE, I WILL NOT RESPOND TO EMAILS DUE TO SPAMMERS, PLEASE ONLY CALL OR TEXT***

Our Magnificent seven

Wed, 16 Feb 2011

Remember to dust your Union Jacks down if you happen to be visiting any Grand Prix this year as we have no less than seven youngsters to cheer on in the junior Moto GP classes. I don’t think we’ve ever had this many ‘yoofs’ in the GP paddock so let’s hope they can do the business and bring an end to our long drought of Grand Prix titles. And that could be soon as Scott Redding is already a hot favourite for the 2011 Moto 2 championship on his Marc VDS Suter machine.

US Motorcycle Thefts Down 6% in 2011

Tue, 09 Oct 2012

Americans reported 46,667 motorcycle thefts in 2011, a 6% decrease from 49,791 stolen motorcycles in 2010, reports the National Insurance Crime Bureau. Despite the drop in reported thefts, the non-profit organization representing nearly 1100 property and casualty insurance companies says the theft rate still averages out to one motorcycle stolen every 11 minutes in the U.S. The numbers were published in the NICB’s 2011 ForeCAST Report which examined theft reports as well as recoveries.
