I’ve listed this 125 Yamaha AT1 as a 1973 although the title shows it as a 1974. According to the serial number it is a 1973. The serial number is AT1185109. The serial numbers on the engine and frame are the same so it is the original engine. The odometer shows 9005 miles but the title shows exempt for mileage. I bought this several years ago to do a full restore. However, times change and I’ve decided to do other projects. The reason I bought it was because it runs and it is almost all there and all original. The front turn signals are missing but that’s about it. As stated above, the bike does run. It will start with 1 or 2 kicks. The electric start DOES NOT work. Pushing the start button does nothing. May be a simple wiring issue. I have not trouble shot it. The bike is in pretty much original condition. It does not look like any restoration has been attempted. The inside of the fuel tank is in good shape. Only some minor surface rust. The original external paint is not bad either. If you are looking for one to do a quick minimal clean up on to have as a rider this would be an excellent base line. It runs and you can ride it now. |

Schwantz leads the group of six racers, past and present, selected by helmet-maker Arai to take part in the parade lap of the Isle of Man’s Mountain Course. Schwantz has visited the Isle of Man before, but this will mark his first closed lap of the circuit.

Thu, 10 Sep 2009You’ll realize how cheesy that headline is after watching the pretty rad video that Yamaha has released. Yamaha’s new motocross bike has taken a radical new approach. The engine is backwards. Yamaha’s reason for doing this is to shift the heavy end of the motor more to the center of the motorcycle to make it more agile and responsive. Slanting the cylinder also made for a straighter pathway for the air intake at the front of the bike.

Wed, 13 Oct 2010Suzuki’s GSX-R600 might not look that much different to the outgoing model but I suspect this bike could be very much a dark horse in 2011. I say this because two years ago I was definitely not building my hopes up en route to the K9 GSXR 1000 launch. The leaked pictures suggested the biggest change from the 2007 version would be some fresh graphics but I was so wrong. As it turned out, I was greeted in Almeria with a brand new bike, built from the tarmac up and it proved to be more than a match in every department for the much hyped 2009 Yamaha R1.
