Yamaha IT490 description
Bought both of these bikes with many extra parts from the previous owner
who was going to restore them but lost interest. Had both bikes running
briefly in the shop, but never put fuel in the tanks or rode them. Both
transmission static shift through the gears. Have strong spark and
great compression. Both frames appear straight as well as the wheels.
The 1984 is the one with the yellow fork gators and has a clear title.
All new plastics. Tank was repainted by the previous owner. New decals.
Previous owner stated that he touched up small areas on the frame and
covers, but was a clean bike to begin with. Has a DG pipe and silencer.
The 1983 is the bike with the black fork gators. No title. Tank is discolored from
fuel. Plastics look to be original in good condition. A few small
cracks on the side panels. Bike appears mostly stock and complete. Trip
knob is missing and so is the bottom throttle housing.
$1,700 for the 1984 and $1,500 for the 1983. I also have many extra used parts - cylinder, carb, transmission, complete clutch, plastics, frame, forks, swing arm, triple trees, rear shock, seat, stock and DG silincers. Brand new parts include - clutch, bottom end kit, fuel valve, kick start shaft/spring, shifter shaft, gasket sets, rubber dampeners, seals, stainless steal bolt cover set, kill switch and others. Will be willing to sell the extra parts with the bikes for an additional price. Buyer to pay and arrange for shipping. May be able to help find a shipper. Deposit required through Paypal within 48 hours. Bike is for sale locally so we reserve the right to end the auction early. |

Back in the day, the All Japan 500cc Championship at Tsukuba
Fri, 24 Jun 2011This ‘you tube’ gem sent to me recently brought back some funny memories from the scary but incredibly exciting days of 500cc two stroke racing. This particular race was the final round of the All Japan 500cc Championship at Tsukuba Circuit where I enjoyed a head to head battle with national hero Tadahiko Taira. Yamaha’s favourite son at the time, ‘tie wrap’ as we liked to call him, was taller and better looking than most Japanese riders (maybe a war baby?) and went on to win nearly everything in Japan during his career.
