Aftermarket equipment (with current retail): Rivco rider footboards $280 Rivco chrome handlebar risers $170 Mustang two-piece wide touring seat with rider backrest $699 $1149; Times .35 of retail per KBB: $402.15 Total KBB fair price: $10902. The bike is cosmetically and mechanically perfect, and at 2300 miles, it’s hardly broken in. I'm fairly certain there's not a lower-mileage '13 to be found. It has been professionally maintained by Midnight Motorcycle of Hastings, MN , and over-wintered in their heated facility. KBB prices do not include the cost of installing parts, and many accessories (including all electrical equipment) were professionally installed. The Thunderbird is a classic-looking cruiser. Its marbled-metallic-fading-to-black paint job is one of the most stunning you'll find on a stock bike. The water-cooled, belt-driven 1600 cc engine provides plenty of grunt, but Triumph’s parallel cylinder configuration makes for one of the smoothest twins on the market. The Thunderbird also lives up to Triumph’s reputation for building agile-handling bikes. I’ve configured the bike for comfortable cruising. It has a full windshield and lower wind deflectors. It also features Rivco floorboards and a front engine bar ready for pegs if desired. The Rivco chrome handlebar risers, bring the grips back toward the rider a critical inch, and in conjunction with the wide Mustang seat and rider back rest provide a very relaxed riding position. If you have back problems this bike can help. The addition of bags would make it a fine touring bike. Although the engine is very young, I’ve been getting just north of 40 mpg. With the 5.2 gallon tank, that's an honest range of a little over 200 miles--no need to pay last chance gas prices. The Thunderbird is also the only bike I know of that offers an inexpensive engine upgrade kit should you choose to go that route. For about $900 dollars you get parts worth over $2000 purchased individually. The kit includes pistons and cylinder sleeves that increase displacement to 1700 cc, a more aggressive cam and other critical parts. When you’re ready for it, you can get an engine rebuild that’s actually a significant upgrade on the original powerplant for around $2000 including labor—the traditional looks of the Thunderbird with the engine of the Storm. |

Triumph TE-1: a breakthrough in the world of electric bikes or just another fairy tale?
Sat, 20 Mar 2021According to Triumph engineers, the fully ready-to-use TE-1 electric bike will weigh 220 kg, while it will be equipped with a 174 hp electric motor, and a 15 kWh batt ery will provide a cruising range of about 200 km. But the most important thing is not even these figures, but the charging speed: from 0 to 80% in just 20 minutes! This can already make even the most inveterate petrolheads turn their attention to "electric fellows".
EICMA 2013: 2014 Triumph America LT

Follow the rest of our 2013 EICMA show coverage Originally revealed in CARB documents as the America Horizon, the Triumph America LT adds a deattachable windscreen, pillion backrest and leather saddlebags to turn the midsized America into a serviceable light tourer. The America LT is powered by the same air-cooled 865cc parallel-Twin with a 270-degree firing interval as the regular America and the Speedmaster cruisers. Performance numbers are the same, with Triumph claiming 60 hp at 6800 rpm and 53 ft-lb.
