Triumph Daytona description

Nice running 1972 Triumph Daytona with Original Paint. This is one for the collector who likes originality. The original paint is a little dull, but has no damage. A good buffing would brighten it up again. This bike only has 4,511 original miles. These are original miles, and it's on the clear Ohio title as such. This is a two owner bike. The original owner passed away in the 1970s and his brother kept it stored away in his house. The seat is almost like new. The chrome rims are rust free. The tires are almost 100 percent tread but they are old. They may even be original but I have no verification they are. This bike runs excellent. Starts easily. All lights work good. It has a brand new battery. The one I took out was the original. The only thing I can find wrong with this bike is that it sometimes likes to come out of first gear back to neutral. If you keep your foot down on the shifter until ready to shift to second gear, that seems to work well. The engine is clean and leaks absolutely no oil. The engine is for sure the original, with the same VIN numbers as the frame and title. See picture. The kick start rubber is missing but I have one on order. The only thing this bike needed after sitting in a house since the 70s was the carbs rebuilt. That was done along with new oil and that's all it took. It really does run nice now. Comes with the new parts manual you see in the pictures. If you are a British bike collector, I think you'll like this one. It's not a restored bike, so don't expect it to be like new. Some of the bolt heads have some corrosion, and the spokes need cleaned. The chrome on the headlight has very minor rust. The mufflers are very nice. Very clean under the seat. Looks like none of the wiring has ever been messed with. This is definitely one nice original Triumph. I don't have a crazy reserve on it. I have sold a lot of classic motorcycles on ebay, and off ebay. I am also buying classic bikes of any make, so I'm open for trade, or make me a good offer. I may even buy your bike. Send me pictures. Email me with any questions or for my phone number. I have experience shipping bikes all over the U.S. and over seas. So please don't hesitate to bid if you are not in the United States. I DO NOT use pay pal for motorcycle purchases. Please do not bid if you can't send me a certified bank check, or do a bank to bank wire transfer. If you have less than two feedbacks, please email me first or I will cancel your bid. I don't like to do this but I've had bidders with no feedback not pay me before, and it's more trouble than you can imagine. I had ONE negative feedback several years ago because someone didn't send payment for three weeks, so I went ahead and sold the vehicle to someone else, then sent the guys check back. He then gave me a negative. I have references in the US, U.K. Australia, even Norway, and can supply them if you are worried about buying a bike out of your country. Buyer responsible for all shipping costs, but I will help you the whole way until the bike is at your door. If you are picking the bike up yourself, I require time for your certified check to clear. I expect full payment within 3 days. I will accept cash if you are picking it up within 3 days of the end of this auction. I can store the bike up to 30 days, but I still expect full payment within 3 days. I have the bike for sale locally also, so I will remove from the auction if I sell it. If you want the bike and don't want to wait, make me a good offer. I never ask top dollar for my bikes. I just like to find them and get them in the hands of collectors, at very fair prices. Thank you for reading my ad, and hope to hear from you soon. Good luck and God Bless.

Twin-Engined Triumph Rocket Streamliner To Challenge Motorcycle Land-Speed Record At Bonneville

Thu, 29 Aug 2013

The 1,000-horsepower Castrol Rocket is currently undergoing testing for its upcoming assault on the land speed record of 376.156 mph, set in 2010, by Rocky Robinson with the Ack Attack streamliner. The goal: a 400-mph-plus record-breaking run. The 25-foot long x 2-foot wide x 3-foot high streamliner was constructed in cooperation by Hot Rod Conspiracy and Carpenter Racing and will compete in the Division C (Streamlined) – Type V (5) Spark Ignition, Over 2,000cc to 3,000cc class. Powering the Rocket are two heavily modified Triumph Rocket III engines. Each Carpenter Racing built engine was reduced from 2,294cc to 1,485cc (2,970cc total) to meet the 3,000cc maximum total displacement class rule requirement. While piston size remains the same stock 4-inch bore, stroke was reduced from 3.75 inches to 2.4 inches and redline increased from 5,750 rpm to 9,000+ rpm. There’s also one Garrett GT2876R ball bearing, liquid-cooled turbocharger per engine.
