Suzuki DR description

2004 Suzuki DR200SE Time Capsule - Chapel Hill, NC

2004 Suzuki DR200SE Time Capsule - Chapel Hill, NC

I'm selling my beautiful Time Capsule DR200SE because I recently bought a beautiful DR650SE and my wife says I can't keep both. This bike is a Time Capsule with an interesting story. It has only been on the road for about one year! It was bought new from a motorcycle dealer in Greensboro, NC in 2005 by a man who was shortly afterwards convicted of drug trafficking and sent to Federal Prison for 10 years. When he got out, he wanted to clean up everything in his life and get rid of any leftovers from the past. He advertised this bike on craigslist and I bought it from him. (Turns out he was a super-nice guy, despite his past mistake!) When I got it, it had 504 miles on it. The engine had not even gotten through the full 1000 mile break-in period per the owner's manual. Also, interestingly, the bike had never had ethanol gas in it because that wasn't a thing when it was last run. :)

I'm a professional motorcycle mechanic (Combustion Cycles in Durham, NC) and I knew what to do to bring the bike out of its hibernation. I pressure washed the fuel tank and lined it with POR-15 (it came out perfectly). I did a full ultrasonic carb cleaning and rebuild, hydraulic rebuilds as-necessary, brake fluid flush, and proper carb re-jetting for maximum performance. The bike had never been titled so it was fully inspected by the North Carolina License and Theft Bureau and I got it registered and titled in March 2016. The title is absolutely clean and transferrable. I am, technically, the original owner!

Since getting it back on the road, I've put 6500 miles on it, commuting every day to my job. Recently, I put new Shinko 700 tires on it and new brake pads. Except for a couple of fill-ups where it was unavailable, I have *always* filled it with non-ethanol fuel. I have always used proper JASO-certified motorcycle oil and have exclusively used synthetic oil and HiFlo oil filters. I've done oil changes way more frequently than necessary - usually every 500 miles or so (one luxury of working at a motorcycle shop!). I've always kept the chain properly lubricated (often overlooked by most owners). Generally, this bike has been thoroughly pampered and kept in perfect tune.

Because I actively rode the bike and rode it on trails as well as on the road, it has a few scratches and dings. There is a small dent on the right side of the fuel tank from dropping it off-road, a slight scrape on the front fender from off-road, and the knob is broken off the end of the clutch lever from stupidly dropping it (lightly) in my driveway. The white plastics have some scuffing from the high-end saddle bags that I had on the bike (which I've transferred to my DR650SE). I've taken pictures of all those bits so you can see exactly what I'm talking about. Please be sure to click the thumbnails to see very large versions for detail.

This auction includes two spare HiFlo oil filters, a spare Suzuki spark plug, and a spare oil filter housing o-ring and spring. Also included are the original owner's manual and riding tips books along with two keys and the full tool kit. The clean title in my name can be seen in the last picture.

Buyer must pay a $500 deposit within 3 days of the auction end. Buyer must make complete arrangements for picking up the bike within 7 days of auction end and must take possession within 30 days of auction end.

A picture really is worth a thousand words, so please take a look. Thank you for checking out this auction!

WSBK 2013: Assen Race Report

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Tom Sykes earned his first win of the 2013 season and came a hair short of a double victory at the World Superbike Championship round at Assen in the Netherlands. Traditionally a fast starter and qualifier, Sykes started on the pole once again at Assen and had strong starts in both races. But unlike the first two rounds where he started strong before fading, the Kawasaki factory rider was able to remain at the front in both races at Assen and earn some valuable championship points.

Nelson Even though reigning AMA Pro Superbike champ Josh Herrin has left the series to try his hand in the Moto2 series, the Superbike field is still filled deep with talent heading into this weekend’s series opening round at Daytona. Here are just a few names to keep an eye on this weekend.

AMA Pro Racing Announces Basic Twins Flat Track Class for 2014 Season

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

AMA Pro Racing announced a new class for Flat Track racing designed to provide a new stepping stone for up-and-coming Pro-licensed racers, replacing the Pro Singles class in 2014. The new class, to be called Basic Twins, is more or less a revival of the Basic Expert Twins division that ran during the 2007 and 2008 seasons, but dropped when the Pro Singles class was introduced for 2009. The new class will give young racers a chance to showcase their skills on Twins, easing their transition to eventually enter the Grand National Expert Twins class.
