1971 Norton Commando 750 Roadster for sale $9,950 asking

Purchased from Rick McEldrey in 1991. He bought it with 6,000 miles on it and changed the oil every 1,000 miles. When I bought it, it had 11,313 miles on it.

Chassis/Body: 1971; 1973 front disc hydraulic brake w/BMW patterned cross-drilling by owner; stock rear brake; tail/brake light wiring incorporated into frame; all removable parts either polished by Whetnall's Polishing by Joe Whetnall personally (aluminum) or polish chrome plated by Art Brass, Inc. (Seattle), and Mastercraft Metal Finishing, Inc. (Seattle). The rear reflectors are 1960's vintage.

Controls: Metalwork and painting (except striping) by owner done in 1994. Currently has 27.7 miles on new speedometer that was replaced in 1994. BMW handlebar and handle grips selected for owner's anatomical comfort. 1973 Norton handlebar switches selected to match 1973 Norton disc brake control. Satin black powder-coating on master cylinder by owner.

Bodywork: Bodywork and metal finishing by Owner using Glasurit solvent based materials, including epoxy primer/filler after full striping of old paint. All paint work hand sanded and hand rubbed, and air-dried. Paint by Owner except hand pin-striping by Dunn Autographics per design and colors specified by Owner emphasizing 1950's era Norton striping motifs.

Engine/Clutch Package: 750 cc. Commando engine with approximately 100 miles on full rebuild by prior owner, Rick McEldrey, featuring case milled to accept BMW needle bearing main bearings. Clutch package is a combination of 750 and 850 clutch discs to prevent seizing. Carburetors converted to Amals. Air filter housing chrome plated, as are valve covers, coil brackets, and oil tank cap. All correct decals obtained from the factory and applied at the stock locations.

Recent Service: Performed early April 2016 by Steve Goblin at European Motorcycles, Inc. Among work performed : full tune up[ including oil/filter change, replace gear oil and primary case oil, new spare plugs, new sealed battery, rebuild master cylinder. rebuild brake caliper w/ new stainless steel pistons, new carb/air filter boots, new muffler rubber studs, and replace both fuel taps. Steve will speak to any serious buyer about the condition of the motorcycle. His word: "Sweet".

Included Parts: Dunstall mufflers (long design), new never used finned valve covers, miscellaneous hard parts, gaskets, primary case caps, and as new black motorcycle cover.

The stage is set for ”The Meet at ACM” motorcycle show this weekend in Tacoma, WA. While festivities will begin on Friday evening, America’s Car Museum (ACM) will host the third annual Vintage Motorcycle Festival on Saturday from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Organizers expect 450 vintage motorcycles and scooters from all over the nation to attend.

Norton V4SV: the most luxurious British sportbike ever created

The Solihull company announced nothing less than the beginning of a new era of British motorcycle construction. And the symbol of the beginning of this era will be the Norton V4SV sportbike, presented at once in two versions: Manx and Carbon. Scheduled for release next year, the V4SV is powered by a 1,200cc V-4-cylinder engine, developed in-house.

SEE THE MACHINE that could propel Britain to a new motorcycle land speed world record at The Race Retro 2010 show, held at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry from 12th to 14th March. Almost a year has passed since Visordown broke the news of the planned UK assault on the land speed record - this coming August the Angelic Bulldog team travels to Bonneville, where it is hoping to smash the 400mph barrier and bring the motorcycle Land Speed Record back to the UK for the first time since 1937. The current record stands at 360.913mph over a kilometre.
