Up for auction is this barn-find 1975 Moto Guzzi 850 T3. In the words of Richard Backus from Motorcycle Classics: "The 850T had only been on the market a year before Moto Guzzi introduced what many consider its best motorcycle. Introduced in 1975, the improved 850 T3 (the “3” signifying the triple-disc brakes) was in many ways the most important Moto Guzzi made in the Seventies. Lighter than the touring-oriented California and far more sporting than the also new 949cc, 2-speed semi-automatic Convert, the 1975 Moto Guzzi 850 T3 was the bridge between the Moto Guzzi V7 Sport and Guzzi’s larger touring bikes." I gave it a bath, and here it is. I have not tried to get it to run. The engine turns over, is not frozen. The pictures should tell the story. It was parked running many years ago. Engine and frame numbers match. It is a 1975 model, although it's titled as a '76. It comes with a notarized, ready to transfer Ohio Title. Note the Lester wheels, which are unique and quite sought after. The gas tank is solid with light corrosion inside, very usable. The ignition switch is non-original, and there is no key, although I'm told it will be found. Also one of the spark plugs broke when trying to remove it, and the base is stuck in the head. In the right hands, this bike could once again live as an original 70's classic, or as a cool custom cafe bike. I can assist with shipping, and may be able to deliver in the Cleveland, OH area. Piaggio Reports Q3 2011 Results
Tue, 01 Nov 2011Piaggio announced a net profit of 46.3 million euros (US$63.3 million) over the first nine months of 2011. That represents a slight dip from the 46.7 million euros (US$63.8 million) over the same period of 2010, but still respectable numbers in the face of a shrinking market for motorcycles in Europe. The decrease in profit comes despite a 2.0% increase in net sales, with Piaggio taking in 1.20 billion euros (US$1.64 billion) over the first three quarters.
2012-2013 Moto Guzzi Griso, Norge, Stelvio NTX Rear Suspension Recall
Mon, 12 Aug 2013Earlier this month, we wrote about a recall in Canada for the 2012-2013 Moto Guzzi Griso, Norge GT 8V and Stelvio NTX 1200 8V because of a problem with their rear suspension systems. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has also announced recall for the U.S. market, revealing more information about the issue.
Vespa 946 Production Model Confirmed for North America
Mon, 19 Mar 2012Piaggio confirmed it will be importing the production version of its Vespa 946 (a.k.a. the “Quarantasei“) to North America, representing the next generation of scooters from the iconic Italian brand. The 946 was presented alongside the Aprilia Caponord 1200 and Moto Guzzi California 1400 at Piaggio’s North American dealer meeting last week in Miami.
