1975 Moto Guzzi 850-T When Engineering and Design Harmonize Tonti was allowed to design and build his ideal bike. A strong, balanced bike was the result. The design elements have certainly stood the test of time. A modern cult classic. Overall Description - This bike came from a pretty serious collector. He has a good eye and far too many bikes to ride. It was owned before that by a father son team who restored it about 10 years ago. They started with a pretty well preserved original and focused on the fundamentals. It has obvious signs of use, but overall presents very well. Following link is to all pictures -      Mechanicals - It had not been ridden in awhile when I acquired the bike as part of a group of 3. I immediately took it to a shop and had them make sure it was ready to ride. The tank was in great shape so, it was just flushed. Carbs were rebuilt and new stacks and air filters purchased and installed. Some wiring issues were corrected and the coils were upgraded to Dyna coils and mounted accordingly. The mechanic felt it will needed one more tuning of the carbs. He had to move to California before he could get to this.
   
Shiny Bits - The wheels are in excellent shape. So are the brakes and calipers. I believe the mufflers are replacements. They suit the bike well and are in like new condition. The tires show almost no wear, but are probably about 10 years old.
    Tank, Gauges & Bars - The bar end mirrors are also aftermarket. They suit the bike so well, they look meant for it. The ignition cover and key hole have the pretty typical signs of use. Gauges demonstrate a bike with a pampered life. The tank and side covers are in very good rider condition. BTW, side covers were reversed in photo. Let's just say I had some help! There is a small wear mark on the tank caused and hidden by the seat.     Numbers matching - Engine numbers match the VIN plate. How about that VIN? Simpler times. Piaggio Reports Q2 2013 Results
Fri, 26 Jul 2013The Piaggio Group reported a 12.1% decrease in net sales over the opening six months of 2013, the company’s worst first half showing since 2004. Net sales totaled 671.5 million euros (US$891.9 million) over the first six months, compared to 764.1 million euros reported in the same period of 2012. Piaggio still earned a net profit of 25 million euros (US$33.2 million ) in the first half, but that’s a 26.1% drop from last year’s 33.8 million euros.

This scene is fairly commonplace at convention centers during the motorcycle show season, but Moto Guzzi is taking the scenario to a new location: airports. Moto Guzzi is bringing the motorcycle show experience to select airports in Europe to promote its new California 1400 models.
EICMA 2008: First Impressions

I haven’t seen anything that I haven’t already seen or heard about previously, but here’s a selection from three of the halls. Yamaha are the only manufacturer to use an industrial crane to place some of its bikes up on high rise stands.
