This bike was one of the 71 bikes included in the book, The MV Agusta Collection. In 2012, the famous collector Gary Kohs decided to pass his personal collection of machines along to a new owner. Choosing to sell the machines at auction, The MV Agusta Collection was created to explain in detail each machine available.

"There is no doubt that Italian motorcycle design is among the best in the world, and MV Agusta probably stands above all Italian motorcycle makers. Known for its Grand Prix performance, MV has won 270 Grand Prix motorcycle races, with legendary riders such as Giacomo Agostini, Mike Hailwood, Phil Read, Carlo Ubbiali, Gary Hocking and John Surtees. And the company was formed just after World War II. Gary Kohs is so passionate about the MV Agusta marque that he became dedicated to amassing a broad and deep representation of MVs in his personal collection. Yet, in 2012 he decided to pass the machines as a collection along to a new owner. Choosing to sell the machines at auction, in one lot, this catalog was created to explain in detail each machine available."

While MV Agusta built many motorcycles with sporting potential, actual factory-built race bikes were rare machines. When the factory constructed racing machines, they affixed a brass tag to the engine case. In Lusso trim, this 150 SS was equipped with a front telescopic hydraulic ford, and a rear swingarm with hydraulic shock absorbers. The brakes were enlarged from the Sport "E" model; the front grew from 130mm to 180mm, while the tear was enlarged from 130mm to 150mm. The Lusso was fitted with a longer seat cushion, allowing the rider to assume a more sporting stance while on the vehicle. The engine was the same as the Sport "E" in that it generated 9 horsepower at 6500 rpm. Though the bike didn't have an excess of power, it only weighed 92Kg, giving it nimble handling. The model included in this collection was also produced in some different "Race" versions.

2014 World Supersport – Phillip Island Results

The 2014 World Supersport season opened in dramatic fashion after a red-flagged restart turned the 18-lap race into a five-lap sprint, with MV Agusta making a triumphant return to the top of the podium for the first time since 1976. The Supersport event began with a hard-fought battle between three-time champion Kenan Sofuoglu, Kev Coghlan and Michael van der Mark. Sofuoglu and his Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R held a slim lead over Coghlan’s Yamaha R6 and van der Mark’s Honda CBR600RR when the race was halted after CIA Insurance Honda rider Jack Kennedy suffered an engine problem and leaked oil onto the track.

MV Agusta has released a new image enigmatically named “Worth Waiting” teasing a new motorcycle with wire-spoke wheels. The Italian manufacturer did not provide any other details, so we are left to ponder exactly what it is we’re waiting for. From the photo, we can see the rear wheel mounted to a single-sided swingarm with a wire-spoke design that would allow for tubeless tires.
