Kawasaki Other description

I know, you've seen them all. This particular KZ 1000, however, is really sharp. It's my daily driver, completely dependable. Engine pulls hard in all five gears, butter smooth idle. 15K miles but may be at 16K or more by the time it sells. Within the last year, I have done the following:

Professional paint job in 2-part urethane
Tires
Battery (Sealed gel mat, not the cheap ones)
Carbs cleaned, new K&L kits, balanced, and set
Tank cleaned and Kreem coat
Fork seals, oil, flushed
Steering head bearings cleaned and regreased
Swingarm " "
New tach
Inline 12v fuel shutoff - no worries about !@$%@ vacuum petcock
New horns
Valves checked
Turn signals front
Accel plug wires/plugs
Chain and sprockets
Tach/speedo chrome covers
repainted wheels
blinker relays
strip, polish, and lacquer all aluminum that has a finish

There's really too much to mention...You'll be hard pressed to find one in better shape. I know, I've been looking too.

The original passenger grab bar was not present on the bike. They appear to have been commonly removed and discarded, because they are difficult to find, and expensive when you do. I replaced that with a hand-made pair of rails that is notched for a perfect fit on an EMGO cargo net.

The original bars were replaced with Superbike bars. No regrets there, those stock buckhorns have resulted in minor carpal tunnel injuries, and the new bars give more sporting feel and control.

The bike came with individual, non-linked air fittings for the front forks. I replaced those with a single fitting that equalizes the air pressure.

Tires have around 3K on them. Bias ply so that means about 70% left.

It does burn a bit of oil, about a quart every 750 miles.  This is par for the course for the vintage, but if I were to keep it, I would pop in some new valve stem seals.  Compression at last check was right at 160 across all cylinders.

The kit main jets were 127 size.  Prior to restoration, someone had installed a Dynojet kit with 140ish mains.  Bloody rich.  Now a plug inspection shows a bit of tan with lots of carbon, if it doesn't sell I am backing off the mains to 122.  I would swap that gorgeous exhaust pop on decel for a little better mileage (currently steady at 40 MPG mixed city/freeway).

Cosmetically, the only remaining items are rear turn signals (polished but still showing some degradation), and the front emblem over the brake splitter is developing bubbles (faux chrome). See pictures.

The original LTD1000 badges were replaced in homage to the great 70s bikes.  Original tool kit and owner's manual are included also.

NADA Excellent $2650.  KBB with options around $1900.  Reserve is around the average.  I have over $3200 in it, as well as an ungodly total of hours making it into a jewel.  But now, my son is getting a sporty ride, and I have to stay even in case he gets in trouble!

2013 Kawasaki KX Motocross Bikes Revealed – Air Forks for KX450F!

Wed, 23 May 2012

Kawasaki has unveiled its 2013 KX series motocross bikes. Both models receive updates for 2013 but perhaps the biggest change is the new pneumatic fork on the KX450F. The KX450F has done well for Kawasaki, thanks to Ryan Villopoto’s 2011 and 2012 AMA Supercross and 2011 AMA Motocross championships.

2014 Kawasaki KSR Pro Announced

Fri, 01 Nov 2013

When Honda introduced the Grom earlier this year, it kicked off a renewed interest in the monkey bike, small-sized motorcycles with a high fun-factor that made up for its single-digit horsepower output. Suzuki is on board, announcing a new electric mini-bike concept called the Extrigger. But we’d be remiss if we forget that Kawasaki has been producing a mini-bike of its own for the Asian market.

Kawasaki Ninja H2 Teaser Video 7

Fri, 19 Sep 2014

In this, Kawasaki’s seventh teaser video for its much-hyped Ninja H2, we get a short (really short) history of Kawasaki Heavy Industries’ history and experience building industrial gas turbines. Why does this matter? Because it’s this extensive background that went in to designing and building the centrifugal supercharger for the H2.
