WSBK 2012: Assen Results

Mon, 23 Apr 2012

The Netherlands hosted a dramatic weekend of World Superbike racing that featured a red-flagged wet race, several riders crashing while leading, a first-time race winner, a photo finish between two teammates and the reigning World Champion finishing out of the points because of a poor choice of tires. The 2011 WSBK Champion Carlos Checa arrived at Assen with the lead in the championship and a three-race winning streak, but opting to run wet tires in Race Two cost him the lead and may have contributed to a crash that severely injured Liberty Racing‘s Brett McCormick. Superbike Coach Teams With Feel Like A Pro

Can Akkaya, former European superbike racer and currently proprietor of SuperbikeCoach.com, has announced a partnership with Feel Like A Pro. For those unfamiliar, Feel Like A Pro provides Kawasaki Ninja 250 race bike rentals across the west coast for a nominal fee of $299. The namesake comes from the experience you get, as a technician, gas, and tires are all included in the cost.

ZX-10R inspired by JPS Lotus?

Tue, 10 Jul 2012

Spotted on Kawasaki's Facebook page, this 'Limited Edition' ZX-10R has been created by none other than double-F1 World Champ Emerson Fittipaldi, who is - amongst other things - a Kawasaki dealer in Brazil and who also happened to win his first World Championship in 1972 in a JPS Lotus that had a very similar colour scheme. Fittipaldi started his motorsport career on a motorcycle, aged just 14, before heading to hydrofoils (surely no-one else at world level has ever raced these?!) and then the more traditional route of karting. Question is: what do you think to the paintjob?
