2012 AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Class Nominees Announced

The American Motorcycle Heritage Foundation released its list of nominees for the AMA Hall of Fame Museum induction class of 2012. The 26 nominees represents a wide range of contributions to motorcycling, from motocross champions and Daytona 200 winners to tuners to motorcycle rights advocates. The selection committee will further trim the list down to six individuals, three from competition categories and three from non-competition categories.

By most accounts, Ryan Dungey and KTM had an excellent year in 2012. Reunited with his long-time mentor and Red Bull KTM Team Manager Roger de Coster, Dungey deliver KTM its first ever AMA Supercross main eventwin, he also won KTM its first AMA Motocross title. The only real disappointment was Dungey breaking his collarbone during the Supercross season, forcing him out of several rounds.

Ryan Villopoto capped off his fourth-consecutive AMA Supercross championship with an impressive victory at the season finale at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas. The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider clinched the title at last week’s New Jersey round so he didn’t have to prove anything in Vegas. But he did, leading all 20 laps and winning by nearly 14 seconds.
