Pull open any manufacturer’s gifts and accessories catalog and you’ll usually find the same kind of officially-branded items like key chains, beer mugs and iPhone cases. Most manufacturers offer similar items, with only the colors and logos to differentiate them. Once in a while however, manufacturers offer something that truly stands out.

KTM RC8R: The first month

First impressions are everything so the gearbox niggles on the first RC8s meant I didn’t become an instant fan. There was never a problem for normal road riding but when the pace was increased on track days false neutrals were found and gears were missed. Ironically I might have been able to help here as KTM signed me up for pre-production shakedown testing before I got sidelined with appendicitis.

2012 Bajaj Pulsar 200NS – the Indian KTM Duke 200

Bajaj Auto has unveiled its new naked model for the Indian market. The Bajaj Pulsar 200NS (Naked Sport) is shares many of the same components of the also recently launched KTM Duke 200, but with a few cost-cutting measures. Bajaj, of course, owns a 39.26% share of KTM so such crossover of technology should be expected.KTM will be positioned as a premium brand while the Bajaj brand will be presented as a more-affordable alternative.
