2009 Ktm Duke 690, Duke 690 - 2009 KTM Duke 690, The 690 Duke has always been kind of a lethal combination because the base concept behind it was to have a bike that would commute, stunt and perform just as well on the track. In order for that to become reality, they needed a bulletproof motor that would achieve the proper balance between horsepower and torque and as in 2009 the bike is powered by the same 654cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke motor developing 64.37 hp at 7,500 rpm and 67 Nm at 5,500 rpm, we can only mention how good of an achievement this unit is. Sunderland has had a frustrating time at previous Dakars, dropping out after three days of racing in 2012 and withdrawing a month before last year’s event due to fracturing both his wrists. Today, however, Sunderland made a grand entrance into the club of elite riders by brilliantly winning his first special stage of this year’s Dakar. Having started well behind his teammate, Joan Barreda, the 23-year old Brit superbly overtook Michael Metge and Juan Pedrero on the first part of the route.
KTM Unveils E3W Concept, an Electric Plastic City Car
Fri, 12 Aug 2011KTM has revealed a radical new concept vehicle, a three-wheeled electric city car with a body made of plastic. Designed as a compact, efficient urban transportation vehicle, the KTM E3W was created by KTM, the Austrian Institute of Technology design studio Kisha (as in Gerald Kisha, the KTM designer behind such models as the 1190 RC8R and 125 Duke.) The E3W has two wheels at the front with a single drive wheel at the rear. The E3W seats two people, entering the car through Lamborghini-esque scissor doors for easy access in tight parking spaces.
