1996 Honda ST1100 Sport-Touring Motorcycle
(Re-listed with lower reserve!)

Great looking bike that starts and runs well. This one is nearly all stock, is in very good condition, and has the best factory color offered on this model (in my opinion). Always stored indoors. 66K miles, but mileage may increase slightly.
It is as near to perfect condition as you can find. Really a beautiful bike. It has one tiny crack in one small piece of plastic, otherwise it is practically flawless. Underneath, the bike it rust free-- the rear swing arm, exhaust and frame look perfect, with no real rust or corrosion.

This is a great touring motorcycle with enough sporting capability to make it fun to ride. It is fast & comfortable for rider & passenger. 1100cc liquid cooled four-stroke, 90-degree V-four engine with shaft drive. The engine is smooth as glass, with LOTS of power. At 60 MPH the engine is only turning 2800 RPM!

Removable, lockable hard saddlebags.
Fold out handle to lift onto Center stand,
Large under seat lockable storage, with tool kit and manual.
Two storage compartments in the fairing, one locking.
Fold out Tie Points on each side of the seat for strapping down cargo over the back of the seat
Headlight adjustbale while going down the road
LCD Clock

.

The ST1100 was optimized for long-distance touring with the following features:

    Low maintenance shaft drive
A unique longitudinal V-4 engine layout
    Water Cooled for long life
7.4 gallon (28 liter) fuel tank, one of the largest ever supplied for a motorcycle, giving it a range in excess of 300 miles (480 km)
40 ampere, air-cooled alternator to power multiple accessories such as auxiliary lighting and electrically heated clothing

"Motorcycle Reviews" Writes this about the ST1100:
For anyone looking for a long-distance tool the Honda ST1100 Pan European is probably one of the safest bets around. The only problem is availability – owners rate them so highly that low-mileage machines are rarer than hen’s teeth. Not that mileage matters as the motor and construction quality is thermospherically high. The Honda ST1100 Pan European's DOHC V4 motor is so smooth and its delivery so linear that it redefines notions of ease. Reliability and durability is second-to-none. The five-speed gearbox never finds anything but drive and in top gear 90mph is met with just 4500rpm on the clock. You can hit 130mph, but that’s not really the point. Honda ST1100 Pan European motors will cheerfully toss off 250,000 miles, the suspension lasts well and the build quality is terrifically strong.

This bike is ready to ride! It is in great shape. It starts and runs well -- it's a Honda! Overall the paint is in near perfect condition and shines with no fading. Check out the photos -- they tell the story. I don't believe you will be disappointed.Call 815-357-3292 if you need quick answers, or email me at paul@needatrailer.com

Motorcycle is located in Seneca IL 61360, you pick must the bike up here or arrange shipping. I will be planning a trip to Little Rock Arkansas in a week or so, and could bring it down for a small fee ($50) and drop it off anywhere along the way. I might be able to deliver to other locations for a fee, as I do get around sometimes, just ask first, before you bid. 815-357-3292

On Aug-14-13 at 06:36:57 PDT, seller added the following information:

I have just had a emergency come up, and will not be available this weekend, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. (leaving out Thursday morning)

I may be able to make arrangements for a pick up, but would prefer the bike be picked up Some time Monday or Later if possible, so I can insure all the extra parts I promised, go with the bike.

Back in the day, the All Japan 500cc Championship at Tsukuba

Fri, 24 Jun 2011

This ‘you tube’ gem sent to me recently brought back some funny memories from the scary but incredibly exciting days of 500cc two stroke racing. This particular race was the final round of the All Japan 500cc Championship at Tsukuba Circuit where I enjoyed a head to head battle with national hero Tadahiko Taira. Yamaha’s favourite son at the time, ‘tie wrap’ as we liked to call him, was taller and better looking than most Japanese riders (maybe a war baby?) and went on to win nearly everything in Japan during his career.

A Weighty Issue

Mon, 03 Nov 2008

For as long as I can remember, motorcycle manufacturers have been playing fast and loose with regard to what they claim for the weight of their bikes. The “dry weights” they foisted upon us had little basis in reality. The “dry” part of that claim meant that listed weights on a spec chart were the result of all fluids being MIA from the bike, including necessities like engine oil, coolant and fork fluid (not to mention fuel), but even that didn’t fully explain the overly optimistic specs.

Spa, onboard, at pace..

Thu, 12 Jan 2012

Earlier this week we revised the 2012 MotoGP calendar and included Spa on the list. Yes, we know the chances of MotoGP going to Spa are thinner than a steam-rolled Supermodel but we like the thought of MotoGP going there. Check out this video of FIM 2009 World Superstock champion, Xavier Simeon, onboard a Honda CBR600RR, putting in a scorcher of a lap.
