Honda Other description

awesome, 1-of-a-kind custom Motorcycle with Sidecar with a 50's retro look! And it still gets over five miles-per-gallon! I call the bike the quot;Dog Hoggquot; because I built the sidecar so my wife and dog could ride with me. It has been my daily driver for a long time, and it so convenient with the storage space available in the sidecar and so stable so I have no concerns about slipping and sliding in the rain. The base motorcycle is a 1995 Honda Shadow A.C.E. (American Classic Edition)--1100cc engine, liquid-cooled, with a super-reliable shaft drive, easy heel shifter and lots of upgrades. I have owned the bike since 2001 and have loved every 2nd I have had it. It has always been reliable and always started for me--it is a great cruising bike! The ACE model was the Harley-fighter before Harley patented their sound, so it rumbles like a Harley and the Cobra slash pipes make it roar like 1 too. The paint is Lexus white pearl with gold fleck and PPR copper. There is also a nice silver metallic pinstripe around the scallops. The fabric on the seats is white vinyl with a faux ostrich leather and it is super durable and very comfortable and has good quot;tractionquot;. The fabric on the waterproof tonneau cover for the sidecar is a strong waterproof vinyl pre-owned in sunshades. The base sidecar was a Velorex 562, but if you go to their web site(velorexusa.com) you will see mine is highly modified (for the better). The passenger compartment was expanded to accommodate my dog and wife so I decided to upgrade the whole thing. I went from the stock 1/2quot; axle to a larger 1quot; axle with upgraded suspension for a better ride. I also added a sturdy 5-bolt hub that accommodates a 12quot; trailer tire, so the traction is much better than stock, and it allows for much higher speeds (I cruise at 60-65 on a daily basis). The fiberglass was reinforced, the frame was reinforced, and I added an LED cateye taillight, cool LED turn signals, and a fender light as well for safety and visibility. The seat has a nice rake so the passenger can relax, but there is also storage behind the seat and the integrated luggage rack--this is a long hauler! The tonneau has multiple snaps and grommets to keep it down while riding if there is no passenger. Included in the sale are 2 helmets (one is a Large, the other a Medium) that were custom painted to match, a repair manual, and a matching fabric rear back rest that I just never felt the need to put on but had made. (BTW I have maintained the bike mostly by myself--I am a hardcore gearhead). The bike isn't perfect--I use it often, so there are nicks here and there, and a 2-inch gash on the sidecar fender thanks to someone's saddlebag when I parked it with other bikes (I filled in with touch-up paint). There is minor surface rust on some of the components like the speedo and rear fender rail, but it only adds a bit of patina to the ride--nothing is critical or looks excessive. It isn't a trailer queen, and I have priced it as such. I hope you ride this every day--it is just that much fun! The bike upgrades include cobra jet kit, cobra slash pipes, new front forks, triple light bar, kurakyn grips, white-wall tires, large adjustable windscreen, brand new battery, etc. I always use AmsOil, and am religious about maintenance.

Geeky snippets ahead of the Phillip Island MotoGP

Tue, 13 Oct 2009

Valentino Rossi has finished on the podium eleven times in his twelve visits to Phillip Island across all three GP classes. The only race at Phillip Island that he did not finish in the top three was on his first visit riding a 125cc machine in 1997 when he finished sixth. In 1998 and 1999 he won the 250cc races and since then has had nine podiums in the premier-class including five victories, the last of which was in 2005.
