Honda Other description

Welcome to my auction for my 1987 Honda Fat Cat 200.

I've owned this bike since the Christmas of 1988, when my dad bought it for me. I was 11 years old then! I'm the only owner it's ever had.

I rode a lot back in the late 80s, and early 90s. There was probably a 5 or 6 year period there when it was ridden most every weekend that the weather in Chicago where I grew up would permit. It's been stored for most the time after that. I did pull it out and get it running again back in 2002 or 2003, but I only rode it once or twice before it went back in storage. It's been sitting in my garage since, going from house to house as I've moved.

I pulled it out again now in August 2013. It didn't run when I took it out of storage. It required a new battery, and a complete carburetor rebuild to get it going again. I also replaced a few brittle fuel lines. At this point, it runs awesome! See my video below.

Regarding the overall condition of the bike, it's not in perfect shape. It's 26 years old! It has some dings and the like on it. Some of the pictures and video make it look really great, just bear in mind that the white isn't quite that bright in person, and it's a bit dinged up. That's all a factor of the camera washing out the whites.

This bike runs top notch, as good as it ever did. Again, be sure you watch the video that I've linked below.

I've been riding this bike over the last few weeks. Hitting the trails, and reliving my youth. It's really a blast to be on.

The transmission works great, there are no shifting issues with it. The lights all work. The brakes work great as well. The tires hold air with no issues. In terms of functionality, the bike is in excellent condition.

Everything on this bike is original, except for the battery and the fuel lines that I replaced in August 2013. I haven't restored it, or replaced anything else. The original owner's manual is included, as is the original field tool kit that came with it. It was very tempting to restore the thing to new looking once I realized how available parts for it are on eBay, considering how long I've owned it. In the end I decided to give it up in order to clear up some garage space. I hope this thing goes to someone who will ride it, and have a blast doing so.

Here's the video for the bike. This was filmed on Sunday 8/25/2013.

This bike is for sale locally, so don't be surprised if this auction disappears.

NO PAYPAL. I accept cash and cashier's checks ONLY! I was burned once on a large purchase through PayPal, and won't take that risk again on something that'll sell for this much.

Isle of Man TT 2012: Sidecar TT 2 Results

Thu, 07 Jun 2012

Dave Molyneux and passenger Patrick Farrance won the second Sidecar TT race to sweep the sidecar class in the 2012 Isle of Man TT. The duo won the first Sidecar TT race earlier in the week where they led every lap but this time Molyneux and Farrance had to mount a comeback on the final lap for the win. The Tim Reeves and Dan Sayle led after the opening lap on an LCR Honda sidecar with a time of 20:16.09, averaging 111.692 mph.

Looking for a CBR250R or K1600GTL Forum?

Thu, 07 Apr 2011

Every year in the motorcycling world there are a few new motorcycles that gather the collective interest of enthusiasts across the country. This year those two models included the new entry-level sportbike from Honda, the CBR250R, and the new luxo-touring bike from BMW, the K1600GT and K1600GTL. While enthusiasts are gearing up for delivery of their new bikes there is a place for them to enthusiastically discuss their new purchase, or perhaps, for those who have not yet purchased, a sounding board for their thoughts.

A postcard from Moto GP Jerez

Fri, 04 May 2012

If the weather over the Jerez Moto GP weekend was dull then the atmosphere in the press room was the complete opposite.  After the carnage and chaos during the Moto 3 race, the amazing Romano Fenati (in only his second GP) had the Italian journalists celebrating as he crossed the line to win. I smiled as they simultaneously began singing ‘Y Viva Espana’ as if to signify the end of Spanish dominance in the junior GP class.
