Honda Other description

1980 model year Z50r, original engine was freshened up with new std. piston and rings, valves cleaned and lapped with new oil seal on ex.valve guide, all new gaskets and oil seals, new points, new after market carb and air cleaner. New sprockets and chain.
New OEM wheel bearings, seals, brake pads, and springs. New IRC Tractor Grip tires which I believe were OEM for this model year. New OEM cables, grips and throttle tube. The exhaust pipe is original that was cleaned up and painted with high heat paint. (no holes or cracks in pipe). Original bars, kill switch and fuel tank.New factory chain gaurds. Aftermarket seat and number plates.
Basically everything was gone thru on this bike, anything that needed was repaired or replaced. The bike showed that it had been cared for and saw gentle use, no bends, cracks or welds on frame, bars were straight and tank only had a few miner dents and dings.
It was not my goal to restore this bike, but rather to preserve it as a safe rider, the Tahitian red paint is 'Color Rite' brand single stage, the silver is Honda cloud silver. The black and heat paint is what ever I had at the time.
This bike was traded into a local dealer many years ago and sat for a long time in one of their out buildings. The inside of the tank had rust. I bought a kit and cleaned it myself and put a light coat of cream inside. It did not turn out as nice as I hoped , but does not leak. These original tanks with out major damage are very scarce and well worth being professionaly restored. This may or may not be an issue with this tank in the future.
The engine runs great,no smoke or noises, starts right up, idles like it should and shifts thru all 3 gears.
The bike makes a great rider or with a few more OEM parts it could be a 100pt restoration.
THERE IS NO TITLE, Bike is not street legal.

Motorcycles at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show

Mon, 28 Sep 2009

Two weeks ago, I took a break from my regular duties gathering news for Motorcycle.com to fly to Germany to cover the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show for our sister site AutoGuide.com. For two hectic days, AutoGuide editor Colum Wood and I scrambled across the massive 6.2 million square foot Messe Frankfurt trade fair compound, running from press conference to press conference to get the latest on exotic sport cars, futuristic concept models and international unveilings from the automotive world. It was heaven for car lovers, but for me, it meant fighting my way through hordes of photogs, auto-journalists and car show models to get the first photos of four-wheeled goodies from MINI, Ferrari and Lotus.

The World Endurance Championship Starts This Weekend

Wed, 23 Apr 2014

Endurance racing is perhaps the ultimate test of both man and machine. In the past, teams would pace themselves in order to rest both elements enough to make a final push at the end. These days, however, motorcycles are more reliable than ever, and riders train like triathletes.

Honda RCV1000R MotoGP Production Racer Revealed

Thu, 07 Nov 2013

Honda Racing Corporation officially introduced its new RCV1000R production racer which will be sold to racing teams hoping to compete in MotoGP‘s new “Open” prototype class. The RCV1000R is based on Honda’s RC213V factory prototype, with the same chassis and a similar 90° V-4 engine claiming more than 234 hp at 16000 rpm. The key difference is the engine uses traditional spring valves whereas the valves on the RC213V are activated pneumatically.
