Honda CB description

Hello and thanks for checking out my 1974 CB550 cafe I recently finished.  This is another completed build coming out of my shop Brick House Builds LLC.  

This CB550 is a very original survivor bike that is clean throughout and very honest.  The bike itself has 16,000 original miles and runs like a top usually firing up on the first kick!  As I started with a clean good running bike to begin with I focused on smaller changes that didn't take away from the original looks of the Honda design.  

Here are the details as to what was changed/added:

-Modified rear frame section using an up-swept frame hoop
-Brat/cafe style up-swept black seat
-Small clear lens chrome bullet style turn signals to get rid of the bulky ugly stock units.
-New period style rear tire
-Kerker 4 into 1 header with megaphone tip.  Bike is loud but makes such a lovely intoxicating song.
-Chrome drag style handlebars with OE controls wired internally like factory
-Vintage style bullet tail light mounted on custom made rear fender
-New OE Honda fork boots to replace aged stock units
-CNC bar-end mirror
-New oil and filter
-Custom license plate mount
-Good battery with tender mounted

Beyond the parts the bike has been checked over cleaned throughout.  This is a very sharp bike that has the right sound, feel, and soul that you want in a vintage bike.  As stated above this bike is a survivor and is in fantastic shape for its age but is not 100% factory perfect.  The tank and side covers have been repainted from their original orange color to the blue you see here.  You will notice the dent in the tank which would justify a respray if you wanted to have it repaired and finished to a factory look.  The chrome is in good shape but does have very slight evidence of pitting or corrosion in some spots that could easily be polished out if you wanted to do so.  This bike has both kick and electric start but the starter motor could use some new brushes as it only works by button some of the time.  As the bike starts first kick it does not bother me so I didn't bother to replace them.  The only other issue is that the oil pressure sensor is going out and acts sporadic when running causing the red oil light to come on.  I have verified that the bike has good oil pressure to the upper valve train so there is no physical oiling issue.  A new sensor is an easy fix.  Other than what is listed I did my best to represent the bike in the pictures provided.  Feel free to contact me with any other questions.

Third Annual ‘The MEET’ at ACM

More than 2,000 attendees visited America’s Car Museum for its 3rd annual Vintage Motorcycle Festival ‘The MEET’ last weekend in Tacoma, Washington, where over 300 motorcycles and scooters were showcased on the Haub Family Field at LeMay. The event drew pre-1981 motorcycles and scooters from the U.S. and Canada, including an antique motorcycle display, swap meet, cruise-in and a 78-mile roundtrip tour from ACM’s Anderson Plaza to Mt. Rainier.
