Offered for sale is this time capsule of a late
1970s Bay Area Chopper, and a former magazine cover bike from 1981. The bike
features a Gary Little John prism tank, an Arlen Ness hardneck front frame section, and
a very rare Crazy Frank rear Fender. Crazy Frank fenders alone have been known
to sell for $1,000. These old Japanese period choppers have a real following,
and are popular with many new collectors. This old show bike that is ready to
be restored to its former glory. The bike has been sitting since the later 1980s, and the skim coat of plastic that's on it is braking down, so the bike will need to be blasted back to bare metal and done over. But it's a great start for a Winter restoration. The bike comes with a clear matching number Virginia title, ready for the new owner to transfer into their name. The engine turns over, but the bike is not currently running. It's missing the exhaust, seat and brake calipers. Please ask all questions prior to bidding. Payment expected within one week of auction end. Bike must be picked up within one month of auction end. Overseas sales are fine, but I can not help with shipping quotes. Cash or Check accepted. The middle of the season saw contenders drop like flies and now, what looked to be a dramatic battle for the title is shaping up to be a second consecutive AMA Supercross Championship for Ryan Villopoto.

Mon, 28 Sep 2009Two weeks ago, I took a break from my regular duties gathering news for Motorcycle.com to fly to Germany to cover the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show for our sister site AutoGuide.com. For two hectic days, AutoGuide editor Colum Wood and I scrambled across the massive 6.2 million square foot Messe Frankfurt trade fair compound, running from press conference to press conference to get the latest on exotic sport cars, futuristic concept models and international unveilings from the automotive world. It was heaven for car lovers, but for me, it meant fighting my way through hordes of photogs, auto-journalists and car show models to get the first photos of four-wheeled goodies from MINI, Ferrari and Lotus.
