The 'slipper' motorcycle clutch ('slip and assist') is a unique Harley clutch that provides smooth, high-power handling in turns or whenever you downshift. By reducing clutch friction, the V-Rod Muscle models??? slipper clutch helps your rear wheel at a controlled clip. The Harley slipper clutch also comes on the V-Rod Night Rod Special H-D power motorbike. In addition to the slipper clutch, the V-Rod Muscle model features satin chrome, dual side exhaust with turnout mufflers. Jetting out past the rear axle, these dominating motorcycle pipes add to the fierce, beefy look of the bike. AMA Pro Racing Announces Basic Twins Flat Track Class for 2014 Season
Fri, 12 Apr 2013AMA Pro Racing announced a new class for Flat Track racing designed to provide a new stepping stone for up-and-coming Pro-licensed racers, replacing the Pro Singles class in 2014. The new class, to be called Basic Twins, is more or less a revival of the Basic Expert Twins division that ran during the 2007 and 2008 seasons, but dropped when the Pro Singles class was introduced for 2009. The new class will give young racers a chance to showcase their skills on Twins, easing their transition to eventually enter the Grand National Expert Twins class.
Harley-Davidson World Ride Tops 10 Million Miles; Eclipses 2012 Total by 28 Percent
Mon, 01 Jul 2013Motorcycle riders from around the world enthusiastically joined members of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) on June 23 and 24 to shatter last year’s record mileage total for the Harley-Davidson World Ride by collectively logging more than 10 million miles, a 28 percent increase over the 2012 total. Launched in 2008 as HOG’s Million Mile Monday, the annual event was expanded into the two-day Harley-Davidson World Ride in 2012 to give more riders worldwide an opportunity to participate. In 2012, participants logged 7,799,140 miles, but this year as riders celebrated the 110th Anniversary of Harley-Davidson Motor Company and the 30th Anniversary of HOG that culminates this Labor Day weekend in Milwaukee, they blitzed that record by more than 25 percent, tallying an official total of 10,018,231 miles.
Harley-Davidson Closing Australian Cast Wheel Subsidiary
Thu, 08 Dec 2011Harley-Davidson is closing its cast wheel and hub producing subsidiary New Castalloy, deciding to outsource production to third-party suppliers. Based in Adelaide, Australia, New Castalloy produces about 1,450 wheels and 500 wheel hubs per day for Harley-Davidson. That work will be transferred to outside suppliers by the middle of 2013.
