Harley-Davidson Touring description

2004 Harley Davidson Road King Classic

First, I realize that $14,000 is on the high-end for a 2004 Road King, but there are solid reasons why this bike is worth every penny of that...just over $10K was put into the engine alone.

If you are looking for a Road King that runs stronger than most bikes with larger displacement, then this is that bike.

I am the second owner, the first being a friend of mine who bought it new from Mann's HD in Indiana.

Mann's did a lot of the primary engine build but my friend is very mechanical, having the ability to tear down/rebuild most any type of engine and this motorcycle was his "toy".

The engine was built on the fact that reducing heat increases horsepower and torque as well as extending the life of the engine.

  • Engine mods include:
    • Dr.J's High Performance Cylinder Heads ported and polished to accommodate larger valves.
    • Jugs are silicon carbide coated and diamond-cut to 1/2 of 1,000th of an inch to match domed pistons
    • Ceramic coatings were applied to both sides of the Rinehart True Dual header pipe and the Inside intake manifold
    • The Crankshaft, flywheel as well as the starter were all custom machined for improved strength in order to accept the increased power
    • The pistons, valve damper and valve train were all coated with HPCâ„¢, which significantly improves metals' ability to hold oil
    • HD Oil Cooler
    • Screaming Eagle Race Tuner (SERT) w/ Stage 1
    • 251 HD Cams

Measured at 100.32 HP and 101.2 pounds of torque w/ the ability to run close to 50mpg...as long as you stay away from a heavy throttle - *big smile*

In addition to the power this bike has, you can tell from the pictures that a lot of time and $$ was spent on the appearance.

  • Appearance/Functional "extras added" include-
    • Chromed-out front end, headlight nacelle, running lights, rear light, turn signals & air horn (loud!)
    • Increased size floor boards, chrome passenger pegs, chrome rear fender fillers & saddlebag rails
    • Chrome pull back extended handlebars, hand controls, hydraulic clutch & foot controls
    • Chrome inner primary, lower engine plate, upper rear frame and belt guard
    • A clock was added to the fork lock along with a racing "shift" gauge
    • Corbin solo seat with backrest and matching rear fender luggage rack
  • Also going with the bike is-
    • Original 2-up seat
    • Both rider & passenger back rests
    • Quick detach sissy bar
    • 3 windshields

This bike sounds GOOD, runs VERY STRONG  and looks GREAT...I've owned several Harley's over the past 11 years and this one is hands down the most SOLID motorcycle I have ever ridden.

The only reason for selling is that we just do not ride enough anymore...which means I WANT to sell it, not MUST sell it.

It is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.

Harley-Davidson World Ride Tops 10 Million Miles; Eclipses 2012 Total by 28 Percent

Mon, 01 Jul 2013

Motorcycle riders from around the world enthusiastically joined members of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) on June 23 and 24 to shatter last year’s record mileage total for the Harley-Davidson World Ride by collectively logging more than 10 million miles, a 28 percent increase over the 2012 total. Launched in 2008 as HOG’s Million Mile Monday, the annual event was expanded into the two-day Harley-Davidson World Ride in 2012 to give more riders worldwide an opportunity to participate. In 2012, participants logged 7,799,140 miles, but this year as riders celebrated the 110th Anniversary of Harley-Davidson Motor Company and the 30th Anniversary of HOG that culminates this Labor Day weekend in Milwaukee, they blitzed that record by more than 25 percent, tallying an official total of 10,018,231 miles.

Ever since The King threw his leg over his ’56 Harley-Davidson and the Black Rebels rolled into Carbonville, the combination of motorcycles and rock have been as combustible as gas and spark. Early moto-rock lived for the most part on the fringes of pop music, in the pomped-up rockabilly of guys like Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent.
