1987 Harley Davidson "Sportglide" started life as a Tourglide classic but was converted. 100% reliable road ready transportation. Engine was completely overhauled at 100,000 miles with new ultima cases, Harley OEM .020 pistons and rings, .650 Screaming Eagle valve springs and adjustable pushrods, Revtec roller rocker arms and lifters, harley "L" grind cam, steel breather, new clutch and primary sprocket, tensioner and chain, upgraded 32 amp charging system, Mikuni HSR42 carb, reinhardt 2 into 1 exhaust, Metzler front and rear tire with approximately 3000 miles on them (very good), removable windshield. The left saddlebag lid is damaged. I have owned it since 2007 and I am selling it to fund a Drag racing project. Call me at 252-363-1324 and I will be happy to answer any questions. Harley-Davidson will introduce a new 1200cc Sportster model  released by the California Air Resources Board. The new 2012 Harley-Davidson Seventy-Two is expected to be announced at the company’s winter dealer meeting next month, and it may not be alone. Newly released documents from the CARB reveal the Harley-Davidson Seventy-Two among the company’s 1200cc Sportster offerings alongside the Forty-Eight, 1200 Custom and Nightster.

Donation of Photos and Memorabilia to Harley-Davidson Museum Reveal Glimpse of Early Days at Harley

Harley-Davidson Museum today posted on its Facebook page a selection of photos it received as part of collection of images and memorabilia donated by a former Harley employee. According to the Facebook post former H-D employee Bob Jameson donated “ two scrapbooks, numerous photographs, news clippings and other company related materials” for the museum’s collection. Jameson, following in his father’s footsteps, worked for The Motor Company, and in 1960 helped develop a motorcycle suited for use in the Vietnam war.

Shelved Harley-Davidson Penster Tilting Trike Prototypes Revealed

The Harley-Davidson Museum has pulled the covers off discarded prototypes of a leaning three-wheeled motorcycle developed by The Motor Company. Harley-Davidson commissioned automobile hot rodding legend John Buttera to build the original prototype (pictured above) in 1998. Codenamed the “Penster”, the Trike looks like it could have been an earlier version of the Can-Am Spyder, but it had a tilting front end similar to the Piaggio MP3.
