Harley-Davidson Touring description

Hate to do it but I'm no longer able to ride :(

Up for sale is a 1976 Harley Davidson FLH Electra-Glide.  74ci, 4 speed gearbox, Zenith-Bendix carb, with 32,638 miles on the numbers matching frame and engine.  New brake calipers and lines front and back, new front master cylinder, rebuilt rear master, fresh fluids throughout, new oil filter, new non-adj main Zenith-Bendix carb on it now, new battery, new plug wires, new fuel tap, new clutch hub and springs and plates.  Starts, idles, shifts, stops, charging system is good and all lights work.

Currently plated and registered in Illinois.  I have the clear title in hand ready to sign over to the new owner.

I purchased this FLH from the son of the original owner about a year ago.  After his father passed it sat covered in the garage for about 5 years.  After I got it I did what I listed above and put about 3k miles on it.  As it sits now it is now in need of a clutch adjustment and the clutch pushrod and throw-out bearing and slinger replaced.  J&P Cycle kit to do this included in sale.

Right now it is as it is in the pictures but it also comes with:  convertable tour pack; batwing fairing, small windshield, and brackets; a spare Bendix adj main carb; extra seat that was on there when I bought it; new spare brake pads; new rear chain; and new clutch pushrod and oil slinger.

This is a running motorcycle but it is a 40 year-old shovelhead so expect ongoing maintenance to keep it running :)

I cannot deliver or assist in delivery but I'll be as accommodating as possible when arranging pickup.  A $500 non-refundable deposit through Paypal is required within 24hours after the close of the auction.  Final payment is required prior or at pickup and will need to be in the form of cash, cashiers check, or bank transfer.  I'd like payment/pickup to be within 7 days after the close of the auction but I can hold on to the cycle and accessories for a few weeks beyond that if need be.

Search You Tube for "1976FLH Cold Start October 24, 2016" to watch a cold start video I just made this morning when it was still only 38F outside and the cycle hadn't been started for 3 weeks.

Take a look at the pictures, watch the video, and don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Thanks for looking!

I added pictures - - last 4 were taken a few months back.  They show the cycle with fairing and tourpack and without fairing, windshield, and tourpack.

Which begs the question: what other on-road products and brands?

Terminator 2 Harley-Davidson Is Coming Home

Tue, 04 Feb 2014

If you thought Arnold Schwarzenegger’s greatest role was in Terminator, then you should make your way to Milwaukee: The Harley-Davidson Museum has acquired one of the few surviving 1990 Harley-Davidson FatBoy motorcycles used in the filming of Terminator 2: Judgement Day. At the time of filming, the FatBoy was one of Harley-Davidson’s newest models, and the one now in the Museum’s permanent collection was ridden by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1991 action classic. “Terminator 2 is an iconic film and a celebrated piece of pop culture history,” said Jim Fricke, Curatorial director of the Harley-Davidson Museum.

Tsunami-Tossed Harley-Davidson from Japan Washes Up in Canada

Mon, 30 Apr 2012

A shipping container holding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle with Japanese plates was discovered on a beach in British Columbia, Canada. The container, which appears to be the cargo area of a box truck, is believed to be one of the first notable pieces of debris set adrift by the 2011 Japanese tsunami to land in North America. Beachcomber Peter Mark discovered the containerwhile riding his ATV along an isolated beach on Graham Island, an island south of the Alaskan Panhandle.
