2009 XR1200 Harley Davidson Sportster
Harley Davidson decided to build a street oriented replica of the iconic XR750 race bike so in 2008 H-D developed the XR1200 for the European market. Due to the success in Europe and the demand in the USA market the XR1200 was made available in the US for the 2009 model year.
During 2009 and 2010 only 750 XR1200's were built.
The XR1200 has 4 piston Nisson front calipers, 43 mm inverted forks and an Aluminum cast swing arm with lightweight wheels.
Stock the XR1200 has 90 horsepower and 74 ft. lbs. of torque, I have added a K&N air filter, fuel management system and modified exhaust to boost the HP.
The XR1200 has an oil cooler that cools the heads with a 10:1 compression and 7,000 RPM redline.
I added low drag bars, lowered the gauges and added bar end mirrors. Tires only have 300 miles on them.
These XR1200's are so unique that Vance & Hinds sponsors a Spec Race Series for the XR1200 and is the official kit supplier for the class. For $3,500.00 the kit provides an exhaust, fuel management, race bodywork, seat, numbers, steering damper, etc.
Runs great, handles great, looks great and sounds really great.
Stock handlebars, mirrors included and the stock mufflers and aftermarket FMF Apex mufflers ($600 value).

Thu, 13 Oct 2011Harley-Davidson opened a new regional headquarters in Miami, Fla., to house the company’s Latin America operations. The new Harley-Davidson Latin America headquarters supports the Motor Company’s subsidiaries in Brazil, Mexico and other countries in Central and South America. Harley-Davidson projects international sales to exceed 40% of the company’s revenue by 2014 with the Latin America office a prime area of growth.
2012-2013 Harley-Davidson VRSCDX Night Rod Special Recalled for Loose License Plate Bracket
Thu, 25 Oct 2012Harley-Davidson is issuing a recall on all Night Rod Special models from 2012 and some from 2013 because of a potentially loose license plate bracket. According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the mounting screws connecting the VRSDCDX‘s license plate bracket to the tail may loosen, potentially causing the plate to rub against the rear tire. This may cause the plate bracket to rotate as well as damage rear brake lines.
