Its a bigger, low-profile 4.5-gallon design that boosts the custom look and holds more juice so you stop less. Notice the bigger fuel cap, as well as the side profile that pays homage to classic Sportster tanks. The bike is lower, thanks to a new seat and frame. We widened the rear tire. Theres a new swept-back handlebar and riser that looks and feels sweet. Then we went big with power, with a redesigned Evolution engine. We gave it performance cams and high-compression, high-flow cylinder heads. The result is sizable gains in torque and horsepower. So much, we had to push the redline up to 6000 RPM. Harley-Davidson Reveals Project Livewire
Thu, 19 Jun 2014Yesterday we published a scoop on what we believed to be a production electric motorcycle by, of all companies, Harley-Davidson, dubbed “Livewire.” Today, H-D officially announced Project LiveWire as the company’s first electric motorcycle.However, it appears as though our speculation about LiveWire going into production was a bit off base. Instead, The Motor Company is continuing with its customer-led product development approach and letting riders decide whether or not LiveWire sees the light of day. Starting next week select consumers across the country will be able to ride and provide feedback on the bike, helping to shape the future of Harley-Davidson’s first-ever electric motorcycle. While not for sale, Project LiveWire is specifically designed for the purpose of getting insight into rider expectations of an electric Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Shelved Harley-Davidson Penster Tilting Trike Prototypes Revealed
Thu, 04 Aug 2011The Harley-Davidson Museum has pulled the covers off discarded prototypes of a leaning three-wheeled motorcycle developed by The Motor Company. Harley-Davidson commissioned automobile hot rodding legend John Buttera to build the original prototype (pictured above) in 1998. Codenamed the “Penster”, the Trike looks like it could have been an earlier version of the Can-Am Spyder, but it had a tilting front end similar to the Piaggio MP3.
UFC Set To Rumble For H-D’s 110th Anniversary
Wed, 29 May 2013The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) octagon is set to ride into Milwaukee for Harley-Davidson’s 110th Anniversary celebration, giving fans an opportunity to witness one of the hardest-hitting live MMA fights of the year – the UFC 164 Harley-Davidson Hometown Throwdown. UFC stars including Cain Velasquez, Mike Chiesa and Matt Hughes will be at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in downtown Milwaukee on August 31 for the action-packed card, which will feature more than 10 hard-hitting bouts. “UFC and Harley-Davidson fans will experience the passion of the world’s best fighters when they duke it out in the Octagon in our backyard here in Milwaukee during our 110th Anniversary,” said Mark-Hans Richer, Chief Marketing Officer at Harley-Davidson.
