Harley-Davidson Sportster description

No Reserve!

If your looking for a true bad-ass Harley Bobber you have come to the right place, this bike is a true custom, no off the shelf bolt on bobber kit. She pulls hard and runs really strong, with this bike you get the custom old school look with the reliability of the Evolution engine. The bike has sort of a “rat bike” look, but it is well loved and very well taken care of (and a lot of money has been put into it, over $2500 in parts alone, not including all of the custom work). Recently had a full inspection and service completed (nearly $700, have receipt and inspection report) so its ready to go. Only reason I am selling is because I have two little ones and have to buy a family vehicle. It started out as a 1992 Harley Davidson Sportster XLH883 Deluxe. In 2009 it was professionally customized into what you see now. I have been her proud owner since 2014 and she has been 100% reliable (only time she left me stranded was when I ran her out of gas). As I said this is a true bobber all non-essentials are gone, the only exception to that was that I installed rear turn signals because I was tired of hand signaling. No gauge cluster, no speedometer, and no odometer. I do keep an estimate of the number of miles I put on her, but I don't have anything to back it up other than my word. As you can see and hear from the video below, she runs really strong. Very easy to start, even when cold. I store the bike in my garage, so almost no rust (just the usual light surface stuff here and there). Only negatives on the inspection were: some light rust on a small section of the rear brake line (picture included with red arrow), front forks have some light oil residue (they didn't recommend replacing the seals yet, just recommended keeping an eye on it), and finally there is a crack on the underside of the inner primary (somebody over-tightened one of the primary cover bolts, common issue with the cast aluminum primaries), it isn't visible unless you look underneath the bike. The crack was repaired years ago by the previous owner and I have not had any trouble with it (there is a picture of the repair, indicated by the red arrow). The motorcycle does not leak oil (I keep an eye on my garage floor for oil)! I don't want there to be any surprises for the lucky winner, which is why I have included as much detail as I can in the listing, feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Something for the weekend, Sir?

Tue, 10 Aug 2010

THIS IS THE 2011 Harley-Davidson special edition Ford F-150 pickup truck. The 6.2-litre V8 features 22-inch forged wheels, lowered suspension over the standard model and a decent smattering of Harley-Davidson logos. "The new 2011 Ford Harley-Davidson F-150 perfectly blends the flexibility and capability of F-Series trucks with the free spirit of Harley-Davidson motorcycles," said Eric Kuehn, chief engineer.

Harley-Davidson Wire Sculpture

Thu, 12 Nov 2009

Contemporary Artist Derek Kinzett is based out of the U.K. and works with wire to create some stunning sculptures. I cant imagine how long it must have taken to make this Harley-Davidson replica but I am sure he is well compensated.  Kinzett has even been commissioned by Nicolas Cage, hopefully he received his payment before Cage’s IRS bill came in…

Bonhams To Auction Wayne Pierce Family Collection Of Motorcycles Jan. 9, 2014, In Las Vegas

Fri, 04 Oct 2013

On January 9, 2014, during the fourth annual Las Vegas Sale of motorcycles at Bally’s Hotel and Casino, Bonhams, the world’s largest auction house for cars, motorcycles and memorabilia, will be auctioning off over 50 motorcycles from the extensive Wayne Pierce family museum collection, all offered at no reserve. Among the machines is a first-year Harley-Davidson Sportster believed to be the 10th XL883 produced in 1957, a 1933 Harley VLE police bike that saw actual duty on the streets of Chicago before being cast in the 1987 Kevin Costner gangster movie, “The Untouchables,” and an authentic and unrestored 1947 Harley Knucklehead wearing period aftermarket accessories. Wayne “Pappy” Pierce started his Harley-Davidson dealership in 1957, run out of a one-room tin shed in DeKalb, Illinois.
